According to Frank at the TNT. Alge is in the building. I for one am in favor of this signing (as if you haven't noticed). I know that it is Marcus Pollard all over again, but Crumpler has a better pedigree. Plus, it allows the team to pick from a Best Player Avail concept rather than trying to fill needs in the draft. Apparently, Frank sat down with Tim Ruskell--nice work Frank!--so check out
Seahawks Insider, he will have more later (but come back here to see who signs where, starting at 9pm).END OF POST
I love NFL Draft Countdown's projections for the Seahawks. If it would only come to fruition! RB Stewart in Round 1 and TE Dustin Keller in Round 2. That would be a successful draft regardless of who we drafted on day two!
ReplyDeleteA Grant Wistrom redux. I smell dead money down the road.
ReplyDeleteCan anybody else see the ad that says "Bag Crumpler"? that is sweet. Google ads really knows how to target this market!
ReplyDeleteYeah, or how 'bout the one that says,

Google does it all!
Please don't sign this guy. This is another downfall of Holmgren. In love with old, washed up veterans. Just please draft a kid that is going to work his ass to prove he belongs in the league.
ReplyDeleteOk, why are some of the opinion that Crumpler is washed up? In limited action last year on a horrible team with equally horrid quarterbacks Alge still had five touchdown catches, more than that of Marcus Pollard. Secondly, the guy is only 30. I think he still has two to three years left at an elite level. He was hurt one year and now we're ready to through him under the bus as a washed up, injury-prone player? I think it's a mistake to do that, and with Hackett potentially on the way out, it would be great to sign a legitimate receiving tight end like Crumpler who could produce right away.

Sorry that should be "throw" instead of "through"

I agree with Derek. This guy has at least two good years left in him. The team should sign him to a 1-3 year deal or even a four year deal if they don't like anyone in this year's draft. That could allow the Hawks to take best available player and grab a guy like Finley or C. Stevens in the fourth round. The team can develop the young guy with the cap-friendly contract and win with Crumpler while they still have Trufant, Jones, etc. Is there gonna be that much difference between the TE at the end of the 2nd and the one at the end of the 4th in this year's draft? Probably not. Based on value right now, the best draft for the Hawks will probably look like OT, DT, RB, TE in the first four rounds or perhaps RB, DT, WR, TE.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, definately sign Crumpler. Because what this team needs is another over 30 has been with bad knees. We definately wouldn't want to solve a need in the draft, I mean hey, the when the best player available is a an outside linebacker or safety, why draft a tight end who can start for you for the next 7 or 8 years? Because we all the one thing that kept us from the Super Bowl was not having an over 30 tight end with bad knees.
ReplyDeletethere is a big difference between 30 and 35 for football players. And there is even a bigger difference between a 30 year old RB and a 30 year old TE.
ReplyDeleteI for one would much rather see them go after utecht (is that how you spell it) young and up coming instead of old and on the decline, hmmm sounds alot like alexander.
