Why?? I have no idea, but according to John Clayton says that it is the case. It is right here in some news and notes from around the NFL.
There is also this from the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Apparently, DeAngelo Hall is available through trade. This could be something interesting to keep an eye on. If the Hawks were to show an interest, it would certainly provide insight into Jim Mora's influence. Would Tim Ruskell even consider it?? Could he be talked into it?? It seems there might be a need, but a player like Hall goes against all the principals the Hawks have established in the last few years. Stay tuned and we will see how the offseason develops.
Ruskell has a plan. The plan is to build a team of high character guys. Sometimes the plan brings good results (Kerney, etc.) and sometimes less than good (pollard, branch?). Say what you want about Ruskell, but he has stuck to the plan. Sticking to the plan will yield good long term reults, I believe.
ReplyDeleteIn contrast, Jerramy Stevens and K. Robinsen were deviations from Holmgren's "plan" where he said something like, "normally we just take those guys off the board, but I talked to the young man, and this is different" (not a quote, my words trying to remember what Holmes said).

I'd kind of like to see Hall, but I just don't see it happening for the same reasons that paulyshoreisnomore gave. He's especially not worth giving anyone away for...
ReplyDelete...except maybe pollard ;)
Sign and trade Trufant.
ReplyDeleteI would take Hall over almost any CB in the league. Dudes like 25 and runs a 4.3.
ReplyDeleteSign and trades don't work in the NFL. The signing bonuses would kill the team that did the signing. and since there is no guarenteed contracts you don't get players to sign with out a good signing bonus
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't really sound like Clayton is saying that Crumpler would personally like to stay in the NFC South. Sounds like he is making that comment because every team in the NFC south, besides the one who cut him, are interested in his services.
ReplyDeleteAlso, no chance of getting Hall. The only situation I could forsee would be, us missing on Trufant, the FO getting teary eyed because they want to send Holmgren out with a bang, and then getting him. But I don't think, that even if we lose Trufant, we would go that route; it is just the only scenario that I could possibly forsee.
Clayton said on KJR yesterday that Crumpler wants to 'really stick it to the Falcons' and Clayton is feels that Crumpler thinks playing within the division is the best way to do that.
ReplyDeleteD Hall is a great athlete, but how does he fit in with the Seahawks organization? About as well as a wart does on a supermodel's face. It just doesn't work, and it wouldn't be long before we'd be doing everything we could to get rid of the guy...which most likely would mean sending him to San Francisco for a future 4th round draft pick.
ReplyDeleteHere's what needs to happen:
ReplyDelete1. Leave Hall alone
2. Give Crumpler the physical of all physicals (we don't need another old, injured TE). If he passes, sign him.
3. Franchise Tru
4. Work on deals for Hackett, Brown, and Lock...if they walk, they walk.
I like Josh Brown. he's a very good kicker, but I don't think we should overpay for him. The difference between a kicker like him and a less expensive kicker is not that great. REally, J.Brown is like Lawrence Tynes, but a shade better, and the Gints won the SB with Tynes, which will make half the money that Brown is looking for. Half. I'm not sure why so many people are so darned attached to a kicker. A kicker who loves country music.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he signs here for money near what Tynes got.

That country music issue alone should cost him $1.5-2 million minumum. : )

Tru is a much better at tackling and, in my opinion, better in coverage than Hall. Tru is also everything a coach or teammate could want in a player, which is worth quite a bit--especially to Ruskell. Hall has attitude and consistency issues.
ReplyDeleteUnless we could save a few million, it would make little sense to dump Tru for Hall.
Does Brown listen to Young Country or the real stuff--thats the question! I love Brown, but he is not the best kicker in NFL--even if he did take down Hester.

Jo$h likes country? Yuk! I've gone right off him now irrespective of his tackle on Hester.
