DJ Hackett Already Has Deal?!?!?!!

Well the DJ Hackett Contract contest is just getting underway, Profootballtalk.com claims that he may be a player who already has a deal in place. This would greatly upset me, however tampering in the NFL is a way of life.

Anyway, this is more incentive to get your contest entry in, who knows when the contract could leak out???? Information is on the left of the page or can be found at the contest information page.

  1. - Thanks for your up to the minute postings.

Do you think it is possible that Jim Zorn had a conversation with DJ on his was to the other Washington?

  2. Damn, I hate the tampering almost as much as the filming!

Cheating is cheating, no matter how many people do it.

Well, ask Marquand Manuel how much he likes tampering! Dude was reported to have agreed to a contract with Green Bay months before the FA period began after the '05 season, and he signed for the exact terms reported the first day of FA.

Funny thing is, he was a great fit in the Hawks Defense, but sucked in GB, and they fired his butt. Now he's stuck on the bench in Carolina, sipping Mai Tai's while the Hawks and GB duke it out trying for the Super Bowl.

Sometimes cheaters get what they deserve.

  3. i'm not buying this rumor.
these are the same guys who reported SA was to be cut by now...

this is just putting hack's name out there to drive up business.

  4. As much as I really like Hackett, the 'Hawks have shown that they can score a WR in the later rounds of the draft who can contribute, yet Hackett seems akin to a 5-tool baseball player with #1 WR potential. Jimmy Smith didn't become a #1 WR until he got cut by Dallas.

The question remains: Is Hack worth the investment?

Without drafting a WR or resigning DJ, I see us using Obomanu as a downgrade replacement.

  5. I wonder if Hack will be able to stay healthy while wearing a Redskins uniform...

  6. Obamanu would be a downgrade at 1st,But give the guy a break he has barely played, and he has produced when givein a chance..Im excited to see how he and Taylor will do when they get a chance..

  7. I like Hackett but he needs to understand that the Seahawks need to be cautious since he is injury proned. I also like Trufant but just because he has a great year in his contract year doesn't mean he deserves a lot of money. I support the FT on him for this year. If he proves himself then next year is a lot of money guranteed. That also leaves us one more year to get Jennings and Wilson up to speed to take his place if we lose him.

  8. Maybe Zorn will want to take SA to Washington with him too...

  9. I think he knows better. Did he (zorn) not state somethig to the effect of being limited with what they could do with the passing game in Seattle after getting the job with the Redskins

  10. "Then again, it could be that their agents are merely trying to drive up interest by spreading the word that a deal is done."

Don't get your panties in a bunch. So what if Hackett leaves? The guy is nothing.

  11. Yup, Hackett is nothing. Without him we would have been 8-8 last year, as he had 3 100 yard games in the regular season and 100 yards against the Skins in the playoffs.

He had 3 more 100 yard games than Burleson, and Burleson played 18 games. Hackett played in 6.

Injury prone? yup. Worthless? Not hardly.

  12. You pretty much answered why he is expendable, if in fact he is. He's played six games to Burleson's 18!? WHo cares if he is a stud if he can never play?

  13. But who cares if Burleson plays 18 games if he isn't a stud?

  14. Obviously, both have good points. What I saw from Burleson was improvement through out the season and that is huge. Also what he adds in the return game cannot be underestimated.

Hackett on the other hand, has been impressive in his infrequent play but everytime the wind blows, he physically breaks down. I will be down with him for a 1 year contract, but I doubt he will receive any long term contract with us, much like what we have done with Pork Chop, another injury-proned individual.

Obomanu and Taylor are very interesting prospects we have hidden. Logan Payne also seems to have suction cups on his hands. We have young WRs who are likely to step up. Not to mention mega athlete Jordan Kent who was absolutely ridiculous at Oregon.

I was excited for DJ last season but after hitting the turf on the 4th play or what was it, I knew no matter how he produced when he returned his time with the team would be short. I also had him as my WR on my fantasy team, then I picked up Wes Welker. So maybe his departure could bring happiness and continuity to the Seahawks, much like my luck with Wes Welker on my fantasy team. Hopefully DJ leaves singing:
"Waiting for the time when I can finally say
That this has all been wonderful but now I'm on my way"

  17. Ouch, sounds like a widespread panic fan bitter at phish?

  18. On a football note, I think DJ will get a replica of Randel El contract, Mike if you have that info.
Ben Obomanu will surprise you all. I think he will be a fantastic replacement of DJ

  19. Im excited to see Obamanu and Taylor get a shot at playing time...I think we will be pleased
