How Much Will DJ Make???

Apparently, it is almost certain that DJ Hackett will be testing the market. According to Frank Hughes, after meeting with the Hawks brass in Indy, Hacketts agents said this:

“We are going to test the market,” Robinson said. “I won’t rule out Seattle as a destination but we are going to test the market and see what’s out there.”

Obviously this is no surprise to me, being that I centered a contest around what Hackett will make in Free Agency and set the deadline to enter for Thursday @ 9pm. But I thought I would use this story to pump up the contest for those who may have missed it. If you can guess what DJ will make, seahawkaddicts.com with set you up for draft day. Check out the info in this post, or in the new lefthand sidebar.

  1. Mike, I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, does that rule me out of the contest?

  2. They really ought to sign him. He's the only deep option on the team.

He can't be asking that much, just give him what he wants. He and Matt have a good relationship, stick with what works. Why screw up the continuity every year?

  4. How much continuity is there with a guy who is continually injured?

  5. I don't know what is wrong with Burleson not being a deep threat.

I live in MN and saw him in his second year and he was a terror deap threat with Moss on the other side. Even when Moss missed about a month, he was a great deap threat for Culpepper.

Burleson is still young so it's not like he isn't fast anymore.

Running routes is a lot different from the Viking vertical game to the Hawks WCO. That must have something to do with it.

    Any thoughts?

  6. My thoughts... You have to have an offensive line that can block consistently to have the time to throw deep.

Last year our o-line SUCKED at run blocking, and was ok at pass blocking, but only ok. They looked fairly good because we threw mostly 3 and 5 step drop type passes, not 5-7 drop deep passes. We didn't try and throw long much, as I don't think Matt really had enough time for them to call those plays very often.

  8. Redskins or Bills. Bills fans recognize a bargain when they see one, since thier owner is so cheap. New Orleans and Philly and Carolina and Denver are also possibilities.

The guy is gonna get a good contract from some team that can afford to risk him getting injured. Hawks just dont have the cap room to take a risk on him for the money he wants.
