Just when Hawk fans thought we get some news about addition, instead of subtraction, Frank Hughes at the TNT, has thrown water on the fire. According to him, more to the point, Alge Crumpler's agent,
The AJC report was premature. Well isn't that convenient, considering that Crumpler's agent was the one quoted in that report. This might be some newspaper negotiating, trying to drum up a bigger offer. Either that or someone called and was willing to overspend. Clearly, the Hawks front office does a good job assigning a value to a player and sticking to it. Judging by some of the contracts flying around right now, other teams are taking an, if you got it spend it, approach. END OF POST
Man kinda feels like Dielmen on a smaller level. Any one else feel like they just got their tires slashed?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there is a problem with the physicals he has taken.

ReplyDeleteI don't think it's the end of the world if Crumpler doesn't sign here. In fact, I would rather the Hawks upgrade in the draft with a Martin Rucker or Dustin Keller and go after a guy like Ben Troup in free agency. I watched Troup at the U of Florida and thought he would be a big time TE. However, injuries have hampered him so he is a guy with a lot of upside that could be had rather cheaply I think.
ReplyDeleteTroupe has been tendered an offer that would make us lose a draft pick, I can't remember which one, probably 2 or 3. I would be curious if this has to do with his physical. He left all of the other teams without a contract. A contract was done before the physical, and after they call it premature.
