nvestigated for tampering with Lance Briggs. So its not enough that they throw crazy jack at mediocre players, they have to do it well before the player becomes a free agent. Can't say i would cry if the Niners lost another high draft pick.
Problem is that everybody does it to one extent or another. It is highly unlikely the farty-whiners will be doinked to the tune of a 1st rounder..

ReplyDeleteClements looked mediocre, yes, but so did DeAngelo Hall--what the 49ers and Falcons don't seem to understand is that one cornerback, no matter how good, can't cover the entire secondary on his own.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, just look at how much better Trufant played once he had some competent safeties to work with. Sure, Jim Mora helped with that, but knowing Grant and Russel could be counted on to cover the field allowed Trufant to focus on just his job as a cornerback.

Quality name. Must remember to use it, although I will respect your copyright on it ;)
The niners spent big last year on thier entire secondary, signing Clements and a very expensive safety. They put up the bucks, just not wisely. And thier pass-rush was non-existant, which doesnt help the secondary at all.
ReplyDeleteClements couldnt even cover Burleson one on one. He wasnt very impressive last season. Folks accuse SA of dogging it once he got paid, Clements is a textbook case himself. And he didnt have any injuries either.
