Niners Active

Matt Maicco has quited the Niner faithful by reporting an array of deals. So not only have the Niners lost Justin Smiley and Kwamme Harris (addition by subtraction,so i'm told), but they have signed three minor pieces as well.

-J T O'Sullivan, Qb who was Kitna's backup last year

-Deshaun Foster, presumably as insurance for Gore

-Dontarrious Thomas, LB, formerly of Min. This signing supposedly takes them out of the Lance Briggs sweepstakes

Also, Justin Smith is coming to SF after Minnesota, and the Niners expect to host Issac Bruce shortly. Who didn't see that coming?

  1. My bad, they don't draft a QB, they are just going to buy one right now and sit Smith for season. If their OL gets worse, do you think the QB could sue them?
    It would be really funny.

  2. Issac Bruce, seriously? Isn't that guy eligible for AARP? Didn't he come out when Rice did?

If I wasn't a Hawks fan, I would feel sorry for the Niners and their moves, but I don't haha!

Supposedly, rumor has it 8mil per year/6yrs for Trufant on the table, but Tru wants Clements type money. I'm guessing we wait to see what Samuels gets.

  3. Trufant needs to consider the advice he is receiving. Shouldn't staying around and being a hometown hero while getting paid 8 mil per be enough. It is not like he is being insulted. Tom Brady has an undermarket deal because he likes where he is at and he wants to win. He is hamstringing the team right now because he wants a couple extra million. They should just do an escalator contract. If he reaches two pro bowls in the next four years, the money jumps from 8 to 11 per

  4. It's impossible to judge athletes in their contract year. Trufant's "confidence" issues seemed to diminish next year, especially with his several int returns for TDs, but who knows what will happen next year. Not that it means much, but he looked totally outclassed at the probowl, other than the solid open field tackling technique we're used to seeing from him. Bring on the 2 first round picks, by all means! Why else did we draft that guy... what's his name, Wilson?
