Check out this story from the PI. I thought it was worth passing along. I say, support your local Seahawk fan. Any jerk who walks around the NW wearing Stealer garb is just asking for trouble anyway!
That said, I will inspecting my food a little more closely when I am traveling to road games this year.
Let's take up a collection to pay this kid's legal expenses...
ReplyDeleteNot to defend spitting in anyone's food, but we are STILL really pissed about XL. I don't think people around the country really understand the depth of this anger... I've come damn close to fistfights with Steelers fans multiple occassions over the last couple of years.... It's still a gaping, bleeding wound.
ReplyDeleteMy perfect fantasy is an XLIII blowout win over those punks.
I'm from Seattle, but work in SF and there is only one rule at the office..You can dog me about the Sonics, even make fun of me in any way you see fit.
ReplyDeleteHowever, bringing up SuperBowl XL is off limits. There's no telling what might happen if you do so.
I try as best as I can to forget that day...Probably the worst day of my life.
Apparently this Steeler fan has never seen the movie "Waiting".
ReplyDeleteDon't piss off the people who make your food...especially if the cooks are Hawks fans and you are a Steelers fan. Seems like pretty basic logic. Then again, nobody ever accused Steeler fans of being very smart...
A Stealer is a thief. A Steeler is someone who works with steel!
ReplyDelete"A Stealer is a thief. A Steeler is someone who works with steel!"
ReplyDeleteIf this is supposed to be pointing out a typo or correcting the spelling, I think we are all aware of the difference between the two.
I call them the Stealers for a reason
I'm not sure anonymous above is picking up on the inference you're making...
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad this happened.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't connected to my love of the Seahawks of my anger that we lost the XL S.B., but this isn't good. We don't want to be known as bad fans. Chris in Bellevue said that the Steelers aren't "very smart". Let's not go down the same way.
It comes down to the NFL being a game, and loosing, even if it was absolutely unfair, isn't something we can change. But one thing we can do is be good fans. Poor guy.
Ever since the super bowl (Bettis Bowl) I have spelled them STEALer's. That is how I will always spell them from now into eternity.
ReplyDeleteI have also had some words with Stealer fans about the SB here in Florida. Would love to invite a few over for a barbecue. I make a mean spitburger.
Fan bashing is part of the game. I have neighbors that are Stealer fans and we bash on each other all the time and no..they are not very smart.
ReplyDelete"Senator Obama's necktie is loose."
ReplyDelete"The Steelers will LOSE more games than they win in 2008."
Sorry, that's the teacher in me coming out... The "loose as lose" thing is one of my biggest pet peeves.
I'm a Red Sox fan in addition to a Seahawks fan, and Super Bowl XL was worse than Buckner, Bucky Dent and Aaron Boone combined. XL was BY FAR my most painful experience as a sports fan.
I think what really kills me is that Pittsburgh fans never acknowledge that the officiating was a factor in the game. They act like they dominated us even though THEY were the ones who were outplayed that day.
I'd never say it's ok to mess with someone's food; But I can understand the guy's anger and frustration.
Plus, Ben Roethlisberger is an overrated douche. Anyone who thinks he is a better QB than Hasselbeck is a yellow-hankie waving craptard.
Okay sure. I definately bother other people about their teams. I constantly argue with GB fans here in Iowa (here 'till May), but we don't fight or anything ridiculous. I'm sure you do the same.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't like is that this appeared in our NEWSPAPER! People read the newspaper--a lot! The view of the Seahawks just got a lot worse in a lot of people's mind, yet it doesn't explain how all of us look at the game.
I think spitting in someones food is one of the nastiest things you could ever do to someones food. if that person had herpes, then the stealers fan could have gotten it. I think I will buy that kid a Ruth's Chris steak.... I have had a very bad experience with Stealer's fans in seattle. I was in a pretty nasty barfight with two of them when we lost to them last year. They kept rubbing it in my face and wouldn't stop, so I broke a beer bottle over one guys head and kicked the other guy in the nuts. They deserve whatever they get as fans. "F" the Stealers and their fans... Oh and XL was the worst day of my life so far and I always cry when i think back on it....
ReplyDeleteI see where you're coming from Chris. Bashing is one thing which I agree with. Spitting was wrong. The reputation of a "Class Organization" extends down all the way down to the fans...especially us since we actually have an identity "12th man".
ReplyDeleteThe night of our Wild Card win over the Redskins, I went to a bar with some of my college friends down near Key Arena... we caught the end of Pittsburgh's loss to the Jags, and it made that whole day even sweeter seeing those asswedges in Steelers gear file out to a wave of verbal abuse from every Seahawks fan in the joint.
ReplyDeleteIt was ALMOST as fun as being at the playoff game earlier that day
:-]
This guy called the cops over some spit? 4th degree assault huh, do you get 5th degree assault charges if you look at someone funny? You get what you ask for when you not only flaunt your bandwagon fan status but also disrespect the local team.
ReplyDeleteI think this is EXACTLY the type of story we needed for a Friday.
ReplyDeleteLets exercise the demons and get ready for a run at Superbowl XLIII.
I for one freakin' love it!!!!! This is football. Its a violent game. Fans occasionally get violent.
Trust me, you haven't seen anything till you have gone to a Raiders?Chargers game in SD. All the LA Raider fans show up. I had a knife pulled on me and I don't root for either team. I saw the Police fill a patty wagon full of fans.
I was at a Dodger game where a Dodger fan shot a Giants fan in the parking lot and eventually got life. Now that is a rivalry!!
A beer bottle here, a nutz kick there, it is all in good fun. It has become a good AFC/NFC rival. If only we hated the Rams with such passion...we play them twice a year!
I for one am glade he spit in this guy's burger, like I have said since I was little you reap what you sow. I can totally see this guy walking in to some dinner and talking sh!t about super bowl xl, all those Pittsburgh fans are douche bags. And who said the Steelers are going to loose more games than they win......Whoever said that is going way out on a limb, even though I am still bitter I can't deny that their a good team.
ReplyDeleteI flew up last season to catch the Hawks vs. Bengals game this past season. On my way back to the Hotel a 49er fan wearing a niner jersy started giving me crap because I was wearing my Hawk Jersey. Needless to say he got one across the chin. My girlfriend jumped in the middle and caught a left from me as well. Time we start representing our toughness.
ReplyDeleteI say we "celebrate diversity" as the crapola politically correct saying goes.
ReplyDeleteAs in... celebrate that the 12th man fan base is now big enough to have folks with all kinds of passions, abilities, and actions available depending on their backgrounds, life experiences, etc.
While I would never spit on a guy's burger, I might kick him in the nuts for being a belligerent Stealers fan! Big time.
I had to shave half my beard and wear it for 2 weeks because of the superbowl. i lived with a rabid stealers fan. Rabid is definitely the adjective when he found out i burned his terrible towel the day after the superbowl. Poor kid, stealer fan also got him booked for weed, I think we all have the right to smoke a doobie at home.
ReplyDeleteYes, it'd disgusting to spit in someone's food.
ReplyDeleteIt's even MORE disgusting to try and front like your team actually won a game, when it was quite obviously given to them on a silver platter by the officials. I mean, look at the stats, they don't lie. The Seahawks outplayed Pittsburgh that day; with fair officiating, the score would have been close to the exact opposite of what it was.
Having been a Seahawks fan since 1976, I will never, never, NEVER get over SB XL. My middle fingers now have an almost Pavlovian reflex now while watching the NFL Network and that ad for America's Game comes on, when Cowher comes on screen and talks about them being world champions. They pop up and salute the television, each and every time.
Bovine scatology. They won NOTHING that day ... and I will take that to my grave.
If I was around that kid, I'd roll up a big FAT joint and pass it over to him with a hearty congratulations.
Mmmmmnnn, that IS a tasty burger!
ReplyDeleteOne funny thing about this is after SB XL Stealer fans loved to call us whiners. I even heard some Steeler writer call Softy a pussy on KJR. So this guy calls the cops over a hamburger, talk about acting like a little girl.
ReplyDelete"My middle fingers now have an almost Pavlovian reflex now while watching the NFL Network and that ad for America's Game comes on, when Cowher comes on screen and talks about them being world champions. They pop up and salute the television, each and every time."
ReplyDeleteLove it! I do the same salute to Cowher. He must know he didn't earn it.
I can't say that I condone spitting in someone's food, but I can understand the kid's frustration. In Qwest there are a couple older season ticket holders that can't stand that my buddy and I heckle every opposing fan that walks past us. We've had the seat since 04', so they are getting used to it, I love the hostile environment in the stadium these days and it looks like it's spreading.
ReplyDeleteYung Hawk
That guy should have asked all the refs that were in that game to take a big bite.
ReplyDeleteYou guys have it wrong. If you want to be pissed about SB XL your venom needs to be addressed towards the NFL, not the Steeler players or fans (unless of course they are being hypocritical fools, which most are). The NFL allowed an incompetent officitating crew to ruin SB XL with absolutely no consequences. Shame on the NFL.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you, this is nice to see. Finally there is some deep routed pride for the Hawks, I know there was always pride but the success over the past 4 years has really done wonders for the fan base. Feb 5th 2006 will always be one of the saddest days in my life. I had 500 bones on the Hawks moneyline here in Vegas and when they lost I didn't even care about the money. I guess if they won I was going to take the money and throw a wild super bowl champion party with hookers and midgets but that didn't happen. Anyways, I know that I have a lot of bad feelings towards the Stealers, the funning thing was I work at a car dealership here in Vegas and one day after XL my buddy came up to me and said, look at this ring on this guys key chain. I looked at the ring and it was a ring that was made for the officials of super bowl XL, it had the ref's name on it and everything (Jeff Pearlman line judge or linesman I think), my jaw just about hit the ground, I searched the car over and tried to find any sportsbook tickets to see if the dude had any money on football games. It would have of been nice to find a ticket from XL but we all know that the refs cashed in tickets from that day so his ticket would be at the sportsbook. I had some Hawks stickers in my toolbox and had I not liked my job so much I would have of put a big fat Hawks bumper sticker on his bumper, but I didn't. I don't work there anymore, looking back on it I wish I would have.
ReplyDeleteThat article was hilarious!!! HA-HA
ReplyDeleteThe refs threw all them yellow flags not the nfl.I liked it when the steelers lost to jacksonville in the playoffs and bitched about the refs.WHAT GOES AROUND,COMES AROUND.
ReplyDeleteEvan...that was deep buddy! Midgets?? Really?? I am coming to Vegas when we do win the championship!
ReplyDeleteI really believe that any smart "STEALER" fan would never wear their jersey into a Seattle restraunt. What an idiot. Of course he will get some crap.
ReplyDeleteMike, don't tell me that when it finally happens you wouldn't pull out all the stops! Midgets, hookers, donkeys and of course, all Stealer fans will be welcome to my championship party!
ReplyDeleteIs there such a thing as a smart 'Stealer' fan? I'm just sayin...
ReplyDeleteEvan...totally my man!!! Don't forget to invite some circus performers too! Lets do this!!!
ReplyDeleteIt would be more crazy then one of Jerramy Steven's parties, I'm tellin ya.
ReplyDeleteI am a diehard fan. I lost my last job at Rairdon's of Smokey point because of a coworker talking smack about my beloved hawks. Right after XL he said they deserve to lose. I just saw red. I threw my Lunch (ironically it was a burger) at him and hit him in the chin. There was ketchup and mustard all over his nice pants and jacket (we sold cars had to look nice)and then i proceeded to fight with him in the middle of the showroom. All because someone talked Sh#t about my Hawks. I would probably had done something similar to that guy's burger if it were me in that situation. Good job buddy....
ReplyDeleteLMAO! This story made me chuckle. I demand a DNA test on the phlegm!
ReplyDeleteHaving worked in hotels for about 5 years there's one golden rule: Don't pi$$ off the chefs. I've seen burgers rubbed on groins and then served up and a lot of other nasty stuff as well.
Aside this being amusing, can I say it's a case of what goes around comes around? I managed a trip out to Detroit to see my beloved Hawks in SB XL and after the game and many beers later, I eventually managed to find (what turned out to be) the last chartered bus which was going in my direction to Detroit Zoo - I was satying further north in Madison Heights. Imagine my complete surprise and utter horror though when I stepped on to find the whole bus literally laden with Stealer (sic) fans! Oh joy I thought. It was exactly like the Van Halen Hot For Teacher video when Waldo gets on the bus and all the kids stop, look up, and then stare in utter disgust/amazement (46 seconds in).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5t5GukrWOU
Not only this, but my predicament was further exacerbated by the fact that I had to timidly trapse to the penultimate seat at the back...the only vacant seat on board.
Even though most of the banter was good natured humour along the tightrope walk of death to the back, I conveniently found myself located directly opposite Mr Pittsburgh Pi$$head 2005 who proceeded to rip me out for most of the journey, taking deep delight at the fact that I was not only a Hawk fan but also a Brit and obviously someone who spoke with a different accent. Oh joy, oh rapture. In defense, his girlfriend/wife (yes, he was seemingly capable of forming some kind of relationship with the opposite sex) and his group of 5/6 friends soon found his continual and relentless mocking tiresome and gave up giving him peer group laughter. Or maybe they just wanted to go to bed.
So I say YES, Mr marijuana smoking burger flipping spitting man, you go for it. You do a massive loogie in the nasty man's burger and let him suffer the consequences of his team's ill-gotten gain and his own desultory and unnecessary diatribe. And if you need a good lawyer, I may know a few people who should be able to assist.
disgusting and absolutely indefensible.

ReplyDeleteI wounder if this is the a$$clown who got his burger spit in
you would think a Stealer fan would be used to a little spit....every time Cowher opens his yap he spits...
ReplyDeleteI am on you side anonymous @ 3:13. However, I can't help but point out that Cowher never yelled at the fans so why would he be use to spit?
ReplyDeleteOf course, I mean the fan...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be opposed to their plane having crashed on the way back to Pittsburgh and have killed all of those bastards... I'm sure the refs were on it too, as they were part of the "team"
ReplyDeletemay be too far, but you get the point
ReplyDeleteWhy can't a bunch of us 'Hawk fans throw some money together and hire a private investigator to look into the actions of those blind mice who "officiated" the Super Bowl? There had to be some big kickback inserted into their banking accounts somewhere that would raise a red flag.
ReplyDeleteIt can't be any different than the idiot who rigged some of the NBA play-off games last year. It won't changed the fact that we "lost" but at least everyone would shut the hell up about us being whiners about that game.
I love it...f*&% "one for the thumb"! I got somewhere Jerome (the small "bus") bettis and Ben worthlessberger can stick that thumb!!! Stealer fans are morons and on numerous occasions I have nearly had to knock one out in a bar etc.
ReplyDeleteP.S. "My better is better than your better....quickie von quick quick" Damn I hate that shit, that commercial make anyone else push a quick "mute"
RM8
Oh and DirtyHawk....when bill cowher spit it reached the fans, ushers, and the parking lot. That douche needs to swallow every few minutes! God this brings up painful memories....
ReplyDeleteI hate the steelers!!!!!!
RM8!!
I was at the Seahawks/Colts preseason game in Indy back in 2006, and Bettis was there as part of the NBC crew... I got as close as I could and screamed at him that the refs gave him his Super Bowl ring... He was signing autographs and ignored me, but the other Hawks fans around me sure did like that :-]
ReplyDeleteSeattlest has picked this story up...
ReplyDeletehttp://seattlest.com/2008/03/28/front_running_d.php
I knew by halftime that awful day that we had no chance against Pittsburg & the refs. My stomach hurt the whole second half. I've been a Seahawks season ticket holder since 1983 and I've seen some pretty sad things but that was the worst. After the glorious high of seeing us beat the Panthers & win the NFC, it was quite a comedown.
ReplyDeleteSo, while I think spitting maybe goes a bit far, I understand that the guy had to do something. Maybe some red hot pepper sauce or --- the possibilities are endless & pleasant to consider.
So lets banish those Manning brothers from the SB and bring one home to Seattle!!!
The guy spit in the burger of a loud-mouth, a$$wipe Stealer fan? (I know that is redundant.) What is he, crazy? What was he thinking? And he calls himself a self-respecting Seahawks fan? What is this world coming to? What? Didn't he have time to shave his pubs and squish them into the burger patty before cooking it?
ReplyDeleteinstead of mayo he should have just jerked himself off onto the burger
ReplyDeletei bet those refs were paid off ill put in some money for a pi
Has this thread really deterorated all the way to "he should have jerked himself on the burger" Oh My! I have created a monster.
ReplyDeleteI must say, I saw how this discussion went at other sites around the web, and I was so impressed with how creative and disrespectful of the Stealers you all were.
I am glad no one felt the need to be overly PC, but no one was totally depraved either. Good work everyone...and may Bill Leavy rot in hell!
