Marcus Tubbs

by: Michael Steffes

Many of us have been wondering what is going on with Marcus Tubbs. We sense it foolish to be counting on him for any help at all this year. However, here comes some promising news. As always, with his finger on the pulse of rabid Seahawk fans, Clare Farnsworth spent the first day of the offseason program talking to Marcus Tubbs. Great work on Clare's part!

While it seems that even Tim Ruskell is skeptical, nobody seems ready to count Marcus out. In fact, he seems like a stand up guy, who isn't trying to fool anyone and is telling it like it is. I for one am cautiously optimistic about how much he may contribute, but one thing is for sure, now I will be hoping it happens, for Marcus' sake. END

  2. I was a huge Tubbs fan when we drafted him, I've been waiting for him to show his stuff ever since. I am pulling for Marcus and wish him the best of luck....Godspeed Marcus!!

  3. I've been pulling for him since we drafted him. When he went down in that pre-season game last year I was so bummed. Here's hoping he can put together a full season of making linemen beg for help and quarterbacks run for cover.

  4. I, too, was totally bummed when Marcus went down in that pre-season game last year. After all that rehabbing, all that anticipation, it was unreal. I can't imagine how he must have felt, probably a lot worse than me.

I sure hope he makes a comeback...a solid one, too. I hope he stays healthy all year and makes an impact. Oh, man. That would be great.

  5. Marcus would make our team awfully tough rotating with Bernard and Mebane. He can right the ship of his career with a healthy 'games played' number this year. He's been a disruptive force on the field when on it.

  6. It sounds like he's working about as hard as he can. A healthy Tubbs would be such a huge bonus but I think the chances are still pretty slim.

  7. I really like Tubbs, but we all know anything out of him is a bonus.

"So I would not count him out. I would absolutely not count him out."

    Should have read

"So I would not count on him. I would absolutely not count on him."

  9. If we are relatively injury free (especially at QB, LT, & LG on O) during the season and Tubbs is 90% of what he was... I'll be willing to bet A LOT of money that the 'Hawks go to the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, this feel good story is probably not reality, as Marcus has never really demonstrated the ability to stay healthy for an entire season. Reality sucks sometimes.

I'd sure as heck give (almost) anything for him to be healthy for a whole year though.

  10. Was Tubbs injury prone in college?

  11. Its the curse of the Raiders. Every time we play the raiders, some hawk's season ends. last year it was Tubbs, the year before Leonard Weaver, which may have cost us the Super Bowl, and Hackett was hurt for weeks in that game too, after catching an awesome tip-toe TD.

Hawks have got to stop playing the damn Raiders in the pre-season--we always beat them, but they kill us with injuries. Lets save playing the Raiders for the regular season or playoffs (if Al Davis ever dies there is a remote possibility that the Raiders make the playoffs).

Tubbs has got to turn it around. we need him.

  12. I think they should use Tubbs on a limited basis for next season. He is a force and can help tremendously, but I think he shoudl be use as a rotation guy so he does not get overworked and hurt again. Then he can give the other guys some rest and he can keep fresh. I am pulling for you Tubbs. Hang in there big guy.

  13. I can see it now....comeback player of the year!

  14. God bless you Marcus. He would be amazing to have back on this club in full shape. He has the right attitude and by no means has he given up from the sound of this. Most players, when they have these kind of surgeries, just stop playing, take their paychecks and go work at some business.
The difference from being an above-average D-Line to a best-in-the-biz depends on if he can come back and be a force.
