Power Rankings: Pre Draft

Well, with free agency winding down, it is inevitable that we begin to see power rankings come out. The first of which has been submitted by Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.

He has the Hawks rated 9th, and seems to think Jones will do well for us. More importantly, we rank third as far as NFC teams go on his list.

I thought that this would be a great time to break out the Seahawk Addicts Pre Draft Power Rankings. To check em out....
SEAHAWK ADDICTS FINE 15

I will do a full 32 team version weekly during the season, but for now I am lazy. Notice no one in the Hawks division is on the list, and I believe rightly so. Anyway, I wasn't conservative, so I am sure some of you may disagree.

  1. I'd bet on the packers over the titans or jets any day

  2. The Titans are hard to figure, but my crystal ball clearly shows the Jets stinking it up left and right once again this season.

  3. LenWhale White is a big, big RB.

I think we need an impact DT in the first or second round for our defense to take that next step.

I keep remembering getting torchced by Atlanta and how crappy we played in Green Bay (I don't want to hear excuses about the playing conditions either - they played in the same conditions and even if they are more suited for that, oh well, excuses are for losers).

  4. Gotta love the power rankings right? Well at least the writers and editors over at Yahoo agree Seattle is still on the rise, even though we lost quite a few players to free agency, and Branch is out for the year.

This season still looks like good news, it will be a good test when we have New England this year, because they really ARE the team to beat, not SD, Indy, or even the superbowl champs. Hopefully we can get hot at the right time like NY did last year and bring home the championship finally for Holmgren in Seattle!

  5. You say the Patriots have the easiest schedule but have them at 4 because they lost Asante? He was a 3rd round pick, I'm pretty sure their 1st rounder last year will fill that hole.

  6. What does where he was picked have to do with it? He was their best corner, not to mention the two other starting DB's they lost. Plus being a first rounder doesn't guarantee anything, especially a productive rookie year.

  7. what about pittsburg

  8. I would have a hard time having perspective doing power rankings...Seahawks would end up top 3. This is the year where being good for a while will pay off. We have so many new players since the Super Bowl, but the nucleus has, for the most part, stayed the same. The Pats D, I agree, will be a step behind. The old linebackers and fresh faces in the secondary will lead to more losses in the new season.

  9. Like the picks. I agree on the Hawks (obviously), I think our defense could be the NFL's best, especially IF Tubbs can stay healthy.

I still have the Packers as a top 15. Their running game is good, good WR's and a pretty solid defense as well. Losing Favre hurts, but I still think they can go 10-6.

  10. There isn't much doubt that this is a defensive team now, a borderline elite one at that too.

A defensive team that is fortunate enough to have an elite QB,LT and offensive head coach (who I think is gonna go absolutely bananas on the rest of the league in his last hurrah)

I love SA, but I think not having him around will do a lot for the offensive psyche and swagger.

  11. 5th?? HOME -RRR'S!

Definitely not trying to be a pessimist (well, maybe a little) but what have they done to deserve to be 5th? Wahle? Jones? Duckett?

No more Josh Brown, or Hackett. Half a year without Deion Branch and maybe half a year with half speed Branch?

I dont see it. Maybe if they have a lights out draft, then they can move up a few spots, but this is a team that got annihilated in GB 2 months ago.

With that said, I still like them to make the 2nd round of the playoffs again. Is that a win of a season? tough to say.

  12. Damn right i am a homer!!! I am not bound by the restraints of reporter who is counted on to have an unbiased view point. and my power rankings will always reflect that. Thats what makes them different and more fun than everybody else's. You can find 100 people who will degrade the Hawks and talk about their problems in power rankings but where else can you go and get the opinion that they are way better than the rest of the world thinks! :-)

  13. He's got the Hawks ranked 2nd in the NFC....not 3rd....but he's still wrong...we are better than the cowboys

  14. I dont think we are better then the Cowboys. They are LOADED WITH PLAYMAKERS...Barber,Witten.T.O.,Demarcus Ware, thats just to name a few!I think we can beat the Cowboys,Im not scared of them at all....But if they have a similar regular season like last year they will probably be the #1 seed again...I think the Cowboys will have a better regular season but NFC championship game in Dallas i like our chances a lot better there then in Green Bay...That would be ALMOST better then winning the super bowl if we beat Dallas in Dallas..That would be the Ultimate way for the season to go next year

  15. Damn straight, Michael. That is I'm loving this blog. Seahawks info from a diehard fan perspective. I'll call it informed homerism. I can be depressed after they lose in the playoffs, until then I can enjoy the optimism and hope, that not having lost yet allows. Why would you want to be depressed about their chances until they win? That's what keeps me away from other info sources and message boards.

  16. I think the seahawks power ranking could be worse. Most analysts around the country tend to favor the big name teams I.E. Pats, Cowboys, Colts, etc, etc, etc...
We as Hawk fans have to realise that not everyone share our affinity for the Seahawks. Thus it is hard for us to objectively look at the Hawks. I would like to say that I agree with the (9th). I think we have lost a couple of key contributers Brown, Niko, Bently and so on. How much does Brown really save our ass? I seem to remember him missing some key FG's in regular season that could have lost us the game. Sure the Special Teams will take a hit (at least on the kickoffs and punts) because we lost Niko and Kevin but we still have an excellent receiving core, a probowl QB and a super solid defense even if Trufant leaves or whatever. Besides, Deion Branch doesn't really do that much for us anyway. I mean for what we gave up for him he is a bust. Burleson is more productive than Branch. So we need to look at the Rankings like this. We could be higher Ranked higher for sure but I think where we landed is fair enough considering we don't know whats going to happen with the Run Game.
