For those so inclined, I put together a few coherent sentances about the a certain unit most of us expect to be quite good next year. As you know, these often turn into puff peices in a way, but what else is going on right? So read if you want and feel free to provide feedback for me if you have something to say. I am going back to watching basketball.... can anybody say Stephan Curry?? Dude is the man!!!
Anyway, here is the article, it is over at the Power of 12 site.

Hey Michael, I don't know if you read my comment of "Seahawks Scout..." In the last post before this one I put in a piece about Andy Studebaker. Ever heard of him, your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteThey say he is a OLB because of his size, but don't get fooled, he is a DE. He is an absolute beast, and word was he might have been drafted in the 2nd this year if he hadn't gotten injured. He is ranked as the 25th best OLB in his position, and if we know anything about TR, this guy should be on his list, and high up too (not as to where he would draft him, but on liking him). Could be a beast 7th or FA pick up. Check this video out when he was last healthy, this is a new link, the other was messing up:

Christopher... Hate to let you down, but even as good as he looks, I seriously doubt the Hawks make a move on him. Ruskell doesn't draft guys from div II schools, much less div III. Maybe he misses the boat of a few, like Kevin Boss, but for some reason he feels that you get more value out of people who have played against top flight competition.
ReplyDeleteYou know, if there is anything I don't like about this kid, it is that he went to a Div. III school. I mean, 17.5 sacks tells you this kid probably would have played well in NCAA Div. I, since he absolutely dominated in Wheaton.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess you could say that I just have a fascination for this kid, especially since my two friends know him.
Tell me, are their no exceptions of Ruskell drafting a small school player, and if so--when and who?
Could this guy at least get picked up undrafted?
But I remember last year, my friend that went to Wheaton said that some scouts said Studebaker would go late in the 2nd round this year if he had played at or above his 2006 year (17.5 sacs and a heck of other great stats). So the kid has the skill and could be a monster steal.
Any possibility?
Weaver seems to have been from a Div. II school-- Carlson-Newman as a FA. This is encouraging.
ReplyDeleteCameroon Jensen came from BYU and it is a Div.I-AA. Not sure if that one applies.
The power of 12 piece is garbage and what are you doing writing about basketball on a football site!?!? @#?!
ReplyDeleteJust trying to spice things up. Nice work Mike and Curry is amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteMichael, I had to laugh! You disagreed with my snow=Kryptonite assertion, but healthy debate is good!
ReplyDeleteGreat article, and you offer AMAZING analysis with a tremendous blog!
Have fun with basketball this weekend. My husband's bracket was laid to waste early on, so we'll just be enjoying the show...

Great article, Michael. I've dreamed about a defense like this in Seattle my whole life. With the core intact, they're poised to just keep getting better and better. I love that the Front Office is so committed to the defense. There's just nothing like a good D, man. I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteTime to win a championship.

PS - I think you're right on the mark. Consistency seemed to be the Hawks biggest problem on defense, especially on the road. If they can find a way to fix it, the result will be a little thing I like to call...domination.
Great article Michael!
ReplyDeletebuy it or not, mud or snow always, always favors the offense. and if the defense is undersized it's hopeless. it becomes all about who outweighs who on the line and for runners and recievers knowing where you're going vs trying to react is no contest. a defenses only hope is a slick football causing bad passes and fumbles.
