In the last few hours, the receiver market has really picked up. This should initiate some interest in the Hawks DJ Hackett. Here is a summary of what has happend...
-Bernard Berrian has signed with the Vikings, it is a 6yr deal. Terms not disclosed yet
-Donte Stallworth has signed with Cleveland, no terms yet
-Bryant Johnson is visiting with Buffalo
-recently released WR Javon Walker is drawing interest from up to 10 teams
-Also, Drew Carter has visits scheduled with the Raiders and Browns
-Supposedly the Broncos are working on Kerry Colbert
The money is flying hot and heavy still, but no word on Hackett. Anybody else get the feeling that he may be calling the Hawks soon to see if they will move on what ever there final offer was. I hope so.
Also, it has be mentioned several places that the Hawks are interested in TJ Duckett, I have not posted about it yet, because I almost refuse to believe it. I think it is fabrication. I think the Hawks would just keep Shaun or draft someone. Duckett is not an upgrade. As has been said, there are only so many spots for running backs on the roster, and Duckett isn't gonna play 3rd or 4th fiddle, even if we had space for him.
UPDATE-- The Saints have resigned Devery Henderson, this could up Tampa's interest in Dj Hackett, however on the beat writers seems adamant that they don't really like Hackett and want to use the #20 pick on a wideout.
END OF POST
where would duckett fit in? if we drafted a guy and cut shaun, we have our two backs. if we keep shaun we have our two backs. theres not to many scenarios where I want shaun, but there is more upside on shaun than on TJ, unless I dont know something about the ex spartan.
ReplyDeleteWR Devery Henderson has just resigned with the Saints. Another potential Hackett window closed.
ReplyDeleteduckett would compliment morris better and we could also convert third and short
ReplyDeleteDuckett, just like Shuan, doesn't excel in what is needed in the WCO. He is an I formation power runner. If the Hawks aren't looking for backs who can catch and work in the passing game, then IMHO they are making a big mistake
ReplyDeleteGood news guys: ESPN"S Mort report is saying that the Hawks and Crumpler are very close to making a deal. Sorry guys no link just watch sportscenter.
ReplyDeleteSaw Mortensen and his ridiculous gotee talking on the Crumpler thing too. Mortensen is no John Clayton though, so I'm not getting too excited just yet.
ReplyDeleteThe people who threw out the Duckett rumor used this equation = power runner + team looking for power runner = Seahawks.
I'm getting a feeling the Hawks keep Hackett, which, could be a great move (maybe not if he keeps getting hurt, but he could be a 1000+ yds per season guy if he can beat the injury bug).

The other guy that isn't getting any play is Randy Moss. I wonder what it would take to sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal? Make it a 2 year deal with a ridiculous roster bonus due Feb 28, 2009 and a guarantee of no tag. If he performs, we might even consider paying him outrageously, if he doesn't kiss his attitude and a$$ goodbye.
ReplyDelete2 cents worth
duckett averages 8.7 yards per catch. that is definantly better than Shaun
ReplyDeleteMortensen is a fountain of misinformation. His occasional stroke of accuracy is slightly better than a broken clock, which is apparently enough for ESPN to keep him around.
ReplyDeleteDuckett doesn't fit. Pearman is just as good, cost a draft pick this year and is cheap to keep.
J. Walker seems destined to land in Tampa Bay. I don't see Gruden letting Walker slip away, esp. with the cap room the Bucs have (unless they are serious about Moss).
Hawks looked at Duckett last offseason too...
