Rutgers defensive end Eric Foster is another in a long line of fringe prospects who will be visiting the Hawks. So says the Mike Garafolo and the New Jersey Ledger, who reports on Rutgers pro day.
Foster is 6'1" 273 lbs, and is rated as the 23rd best DE prospect by NFL Draft Scout. It is possible that he could put on weight and be a quicker lighter tackle, like the Hawks tend to use. Expect him to either be a late round flier or under consideration to be signed as an undrafted free agent.
HERE IS A VIDEO FOUND BY READER ERIK. NICE WORK!
I don't know which is more remarkable, that the Hawks can sniff out these prospects or that you can find all these stories! haha. Keep up the good work, homie.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the way the Hawks treat these visits, but they really lack in the sexy department..
ReplyDeleteWhatever... I think the Hawks are bringing Sexy back!
ReplyDeleteRuskell (via the PI) on the running game and the possibility of drafting a RB:
ReplyDelete"It wasn't just that one game; we never ran the ball consistently at any time last year," general manager Tim Ruskell said Tuesday, taking a brief pause from draft prep. "We mandated that we will attack the problem as much as we can this offseason.
"Is drafting a running back beyond the realm of possibility? Not at all."
While Ruskell wouldn't be more specific -- drafting 25th, there is nothing to be specific about -- he's not above piling on.
"We're not hostage to one position, which is something I've said very rarely in previous drafts," he said. "We could go either side of the ball, at any position."
Whatever the choice, before Jim Mora inherits the beaked empire from Mike Holmgren in 2009, the idea is that the running game will no longer be a Seahawks problem, much in the way Ruskell after last season eliminated the knotted-up secondary.
After hiring into the defensive backfield safeties Deon Grant and Brian Russell as well as Mora, a new position coach, Ruskell took a hammer to the offense with the backs, new starting left guard Mike Wahle and a well-regarded new position coach, Mike Solari, for Extreme Makeover, Part II.
"It's the same kind of commitment, and we hope for the same kind of results," he said. "The running game is what kept us from a better record and having a (second) home playoff game. So we changed the coach and personnel, too."
Mike, when do the compensatory picks get announced?

ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again. If J Stew falls to us, we really should take him. Stewart, Jones and Duckett would give us one of the best backfields in the NFL without question...for years.
Evan....this weekend at the owners meetings
ReplyDeleteHere's a video with some analysis of Foster. Seems likely to be an UDFA.

Interesting prospect. I would keep him at DT, and have him play mainly on obvious passing downs.
