Congratulations Tim Ruskell, We Approve

Well I thought, as I close the Seahawkaddcits.com Tim Ruskell approval rating poll, I would document the results in the archives. With approximately 440 votes counted, Tim Ruskell has an approval rating of 97%.

-77% of people are completely satisfied with the work of Mr. Ruskell

-another 22% are at least partially satisfied with the job he has done

- and only as mere 5 votes, or 1%, feel he needs to be canned.

Despite the fact that those who don't like him seem to be the ones shouting, overall Tim Ruskell is well liked by Seahawk fans. As he should be. He makes tough decisions. Some work, some don't, but either way, he keeps a winner on the field and everybody but Warren Moon out of the tabloids. Well done Timmy, Seahawk fans are behind you!

Of course if I put this up in a week and Hackett and Brown are gone, who knows, it could be flipped!

  1. Even though he looks like a level 3 sex offender in that picture, you've gotta like yourself some Ruskell.

Obviously that Hutch glitch a couple years ago was brutal, but he makes some pretty shrewd moves otherwise.

Steffes, keep up the great work. This blog is fantastic. I'm hooked.

  2. Ruskell makes great decisions over all. He could really put himself over the top with a great draft. Hutch is really the only black mark that many of us will never get over. Receivers are key though and we need to give Matt some targets for next year. I play on a team and I know what its like not to have any good receivers!

  3. John Clayton on KJR stated today that he feels that BOTH DJ and Brown will be gone. It was also stated that the team and Brown's agent are about 400,000 apart.

Also Crumpler is visiting Tampa today, let see if he makes it out of there without a contract.

  4. Troy Williamson to JAX for 6th rounder. I wonder: how does that affect DJs value?

Also, hopefully Mr.Allen' jet is waiting to pick Mr.Crumpler up following his interview with Tampa. I'm in favor of the "look at this suitcase full of money for you" approach with this one - ala Chad Brown. We need you Alge!!!

  5. Yeah, sorry about the picture, he does look like he is on Megans list. I am trying to be more careful with photos now that I threw some adds up. Which by the way, you all should be clicking on and checking out so that i can afford to buy more things to give away to you in contests.

  8. They seem to be working fine, according to what i am being told by other people

  9. the Jones soda links take you to a webpage that is blank. All other links seem to work for me.

  10. Why does that link have to show, of all the possible teams, a Steelers' jersey?

Yes, I am still bitter about the Super Bowl.

  11. Probably because more people buy Steelers gear than anything else. I will change it. it is totally inappropriate to have Stealers merchandise on my site

  12. I think Ruskell has done a good job. He has put the team in a situation where we should be in a winning situation for long time to come.

  13. Trading a #1 for Branch hasn't exactly panned out.

David Greene before LeRoy Hill wasn't the smartest thing in the world.

Hutch. Yes. Hutch. Won't go there.

The Plan B after the Dielman thing wasn't exactly smooth (what plan B?).

The Shaun Alexander contract wasn't exactly a thing of genius.

I'd rather have Luis Castillo or Heath Miller than Christina Spencer.

Marcus Pollard was a smart move. At least he was young and is still improving (sarcasm).

Resigning an 98 year old Chris Gray after the '06 season. Good. Really good.

Releasing Urban the way he did was pretty classy. Or something.

He's good at scouting long snappers.

  14. Well, lets look at some of the positivies as well. Nobody gets everything right. I actually think his strategy with Hutch was based on good faith and I'd say Hutch screwed the Seahawks. Ruskell didn't want to overpay for him and wanted the market to dictate it - who knew Hutch the trader would exercise the poison pill. He probably overpaid for Branch, but dude, if we won the superbowl, that would've been the 32nd overall pick. A few breaks in that season and we could've represented the NFC - Branch helped us win a few games that season as I recall. If you look at Pollard, you should also look at what Denver paid for Graham and compare the two on performance. Now you match that up with the money that each of them made and Pollard looks like quite the acquisition. I'm sure if he really liked Pollard and believed that he was the answer, that he would've signed him to more than just a one year deal. I don't think anyone could've guessed that Alexander's productivity would drop off that quickly. If you analyze Shaun's contract, I don't think Ruskell ever meant to fulfill the entire duration.

    The positive:

Tatupu, Julian Peterson, Hill, Kerney, Burleson (a pretty scary return game with him back there), Deon Grant, Locklear.

  15. `you know if you are going to slam some one atleast have the balls to put your name to it.

    wahle great signing
    mora future coach
    resigning lock

that's all i can remember on short notice.

    enough said.

  16. Michael... links are great now, thanks!

I really agree with hawkfaninoklahoma. Very well put!

  17. Ruskell has done great job, IMO. HawkDude you summed up the Hutch fiasco perfectly. Like I have said, if Hutch wanted to be a Seahawk, the Seahawks would have matched the Viking offer (heck they even tried to match the poison pill contract) but he instead chose to leave. I agree with Ruskell's p[hilosophy in dictating the market, especially when overpaying is involved. It really shocks me that people hold Ruskell in such contempt for the Hutch thing. I know they could have franchised him and not allowed anyone to talk to him but my gut feeling is there would have been a cantekerous holdout with Hutch belly-aching that he was being held prisoner. That was a no win situation all around.

It's funny Ruskell was lambasted last year after dealing Darrell Jackson to the 49ers. I haven;t heard much from those folks recently. But the best criticism I have heard was surrounding Lofa. The guy is a pro bowl LB but some people have complained that because Mel Kiper said he was 4th rounder, that Ruskell took him too soon in the draft LOL priceless!!

  18. I like Ruskell and am a very optimistic Seattle sports fan. That being said all of those negatives that the unnamed person posted are very interesting to think about. I wanted the Branch deal bad, but it was bad. It would have taken some serious balls, but letting Shaun go would have been the choice. Entering last season with the o line the way we did killed us last year. We should have a GM that makes every decision perfectly just like all the other teams...wait nobody makes all the right decisions. Lets praise him after the draft and dominate next year!

  19. some interesting tidbits in this article:

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7837770/Talk-isn't-just-about-college-stars-at-combine?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=4973

    wahle "a stiff" last year?

two raiders staffers sure to be on mora's staff in 2009?

holmgren coulda been in DC next year? will 'certaily" be coaching again in 2009 somewhere else, or at least a parcells-like gig?

rumors rumors rumors...seems to be what the combine is all about.

  20. Roddy,

yeah some interesting stuff. I would love to see Rathman on the staff but the lasting impression of Knappp I have is him sitting on the bench in SF, his eyes just about popping out of his head, and TO undressing him on national TV.

As for Holmgren as RedSkin coach? Not sure about this. Daniel Snyder was ticked off at Holmgren big time back when Holmgren traded Galloway to Dallas. Not only did Snyder want Galloway, but then to have him traded to his division rival drove him nuts and I remember an article in which it was attributed to Snyder that he would get revenge on Holmgren. I thought of this with the whole Jim Zorn thing.

    ReplyDelete
  21. wow, I never knew the skins wanted Galloway. Snyder is a tard, so it figures. He should send Holmy some scotch for not trading him Joey, as he never did anything for Dallas. we got a 1st round pick for Joey, and he sucked and was injured his whole career in Dallas.

On Ruskell, its easier to list his mistakes, because they are so glaring. And he has made many more good decisions than bad...I still think if we'd canned him after the Hutch thing, we would have won the Super Bowl, because most folks would have signed some OL help instead of giving up after Dielman.

Whatever, he has done well this offseason--now its up to the draft and the coaches to take these players and take us to the Super Bowl!

  22. Grant -- solid -- good job Timmy. You paid an above average safety more money than he deserves -- at the time of his contract he was the 3rd highest paid safety in the NFL yet he is probably about the 15-20th best safety. Ruskell is smart and so are his brainwashed fools. Any idiot can throw someone else's money around and pretent they are smart.

Timmy told Hutch he would renegotiate. Never did. He's a liar and then Hutch is supposed to act in good faith towards him? None of you fools would act in good faith towards a person who thinks your position is not important and who constantly lied to you about regegotiating and nothing happens for a year.

Can any of you honestly say that you would act in good faith towards your boss if he were a liar to you and said that, while you were good at your job, that your job just wasn't very important to the company (at least compared to other coworkers). Timmy was right, guards are worthless and a dime a dozen and that's why we have had a dominant run game the last 2 years.

  23. That article being referenced @ foxsports is from John Czarnecki. His reputation is that he says outlandish things just to make a splash. Everything from refuting injury reports to free agent signings. I think the only thing of value in that whole article was that Gregg Knapp will be on the Seahawks staff next year, but that is a given, he and Mora are best friends.
