Jeff Wilkens Officially Retires--UPDATED

This is according to PFT. This of course clears the path for Josh Brown to sign there. St. Louis was supposedly the first stop on his tour. This will be very disapointing for Hawk fans, but I do look forward the volume if Brown is trying to kick a game winner at Qwest. Who are we kidding? The Rams, winning on the road in Seattle... that is so 2004.

UPDATE(11:10am)-- Here is the Seahawks.net story confirming what the reader said in the comments, under no circumstances will Josh Brown be back with the Hawks. Unfortunate, but not crippling.

  1. Softy on 950 KJR just reported that Josh Brown is 100% gone maybe to the Rams.

  2. Also heard from Softy that the Hawks made an offer to Brown that would make him the highest paid kicker in the league, and he said no...

Goodbye Josh, thanks for winning games for us...too bad you are all about money...

  3. Michael...do me a favor and never mention 2004 and RAMS again...the OT loss was my only game at Qwest that year...

  4. I was at that loss in 04', I don't see the current D falling apart like that at Qwest and giving JB a chance to beat us.

  5. Browns feelings must have gotten hurt. He is upset because he is not as important as a player that plays half the snaps. Too Bad. Go somewhere else. Two of the best kickers in the NFC last year were rookies.

  6. Hearing that the Hawks offered to make him the highest paid kicker in the league and that he still seems to not care REALLY pisses me off. He has been a fan favorite here and the entire city has been nothing but good to him. His repayment is whining about it? Fine, let him walk, and if he goes to the Rams I hope the Hawks give him a nasty welcoming party next season.

  7. Yeah, if this is true and the Hawks actually made such an offer then Brown can walk. We really don't want a player like that on our team regardless of how talented they are, and especially if he is the f*&%ing kicker! Come on, that's just ridiculous.

  8. If it's true that the 'Hawks offered him a deal that would have made him the highest paid kicker in the league and he STILL turned it down ... the pox on him.

Yes, it does piss me off. But for the most part, kickers are easy to replace.

  9. What an arse to turn down a great contract making him the highest paid kicker in a city that loves him and where he has more notoriety as a kicker than he ever will anywhere else.

GRRR, you dolt. Good kicker, but the brain working well, not so much.

  10. This sounds like pure marketing to me. Brown is looking for a big contract. I can see his agent now talking to other teams, "Oh yeah, the Seahawks want him bad, made an offer to be the highest kicker in the league, but Josh really likes your team". Pure marketing IMO. Who is Brown's agent? Please don't say Rosenhaus or Tom Condon (Bastards!). We need confirmation of this from other sources to give it ANY credibility. THe media is doing the agent's work for him.
