The NFLPA players salary database was updated last night to include the contract figures on one Mike Wahle, the new LG for the Hawks. He makes base salaries of 2mil in 08', 3.1mil in 09' and2010, and 3.9mil in both 2011 and 2012. Not to shabby. There is an unreported signing bonus as well. My guess is that is no more than 10 million. That would make it a 5yr 26 million dollar deal, which sounds about right. If that is the case, the cap hits are reasonable. At most the hit is 4 million this year, and if they split the bonus into two parts, say one now, and one in before 2010, it could be even less. Either way it looks like a heck of a deal if he plays like he is capable.

Nice, those are good numbers to see. This looks like some great value over Fanacea, who I'm glad the Hawks do not have to go after.
ReplyDeleteSomething like 24 hours to place the Franchise Tag? How does that work now that Josh Brown has it from last year? Do they actually have to sign Brown to a contract before putting the tag on Tru? Or can they just remove it from Brown and place it on Tru? If that is the case, does Brown become a FA right then, or on the 29th with the rest of the FA's?
Also, what about putting the conditions on the RFA's? Is that deadline coming up soon?
Great job on the site.
Great value over Faneca.
ReplyDeleteI see this signing as perhaps the most important signing of our off-season when it's all said and done.
I know there's much more to do, but we absolutely needed a left guard and we finally got one! I'd say our terrible guard position was by far our weakest link all season (TE sucked too). That should change now. At least we have 1 good one.
If that's correct, and Clayton's remarks about Seattle having $22 mil in cap space before our latest over 30 offensive player's signing; then with Trufant getting tagged by Tim Numbskull, we $8.5 mil in cap space left to sign rookies, try to re-sign our own free agents (bye Sean and the right side of our o-line) and any outside free agent like Sopoaga. So we're stuck with Alexander's diving to the fetal position for another year? What an off season.
