Looks like the time is coming to doll out the gear to the DJ Hackett contest winner.
According to the Charlotte Observer, DJ will choose a team soon.
Here is the take from the Rock Hill Herald. Darin Gantt seems to be backing off his previous notion that Hacks east coast swing was all for leverage.
I am kind of in the middle of dinner commitment, but I wanted to pass this along. Most of it has already been said, but I wanted to let you know it was out there. I'll be back later....play nice. END

Hackett please stay!
ReplyDelete^ what he/she said ^
ReplyDeleteAt this point, unless we can get him for cheap, I don't want him. All he has proven is that he has a lot of talent, but he doesn't have the ability to stay on the field. I don't care how much talent you've got if you can't play come Sunday. I don't want to have to depend upon this guy, because you can't depend on him. Say we go deep into the playoffs next year, do you want to be saying we'll do great as long as Hackett doesn't get hurt? I would rather let the young guys, who seem like they can be really good, develop and turn into stars. Hasselbeck doesn't need a lot of talent, he just needs you to be able to do two things, catch the ball, and play every sunday.
ReplyDelete-Griffin
Agreed Griffin, what happened last year against the pack? He twisted his ankle two plays into the game and didn't play after that.... I love the guy but he just hasn't proven he can stay on the field for even half a season..
ReplyDeleteAlso my friend who happens to live in tennessee says all the radio stations over there still reporting that they still think that they have a good shot at landing Dj....Just some food for thought.
ReplyDeleteThe Hawks already have one WR who can't stay on the field, and has cost them way more than they got in return. That would be Branch...
ReplyDeleteWhat do they need a second one for? If he's willing to play at a low cost, and can prove he can play through some pain when needed to, then sign him to an incentive based low cost deal. Other wise, let someone else over pay him to play half the season.
Good morning 12th men and women!! Well I am glad Hack got to check out his market value finally. I am sure other teams took note of his injury:playing time ratio and found it to be disturbing. I wouldn't mind Hackett signing a 1-year deal since our number 1 for the year will be sitting. Glad we still have Bobby! We COULD also go after D. Jack again (hahaha) If we do sign Hack, hope he has a breakout year, but I would sign a WR/TE first day, the PK can be on hold til the second day, not 100% but I think they all have been drafted at least in the later rounds. Oh and being from Oregon, I love J. Stewart, please Hawk fans help me lobby for this one! Me love you long time?
ReplyDeleteScout.com's Adam Caplan reports the Panthers and WR D.J. Hackett have reached agreement on a two-year, $3.5 million contract.
ReplyDeleteWhile Hackett has dealt with injuries, he's been highly productive when healthy and is only 26. In Carolina, he becomes the top candidate to start opposite Steve Smith with Muhsin Muhammad likely working from the slot. Dwayne Jarrett will compete with Ryne Robinson to be the fourth receiver. Hackett has vertical and red-zone ability and should draw some attention away from Smith. His addition is good news for all Panthers skill players besides Jarrett. Expect solid WR3/4 numbers if Hackett starts. Mar. 17 - 12:16 pm et
