Not Ready For Prime Time

by: Michael Steffes

The Seahawks were passed over for the opening weekend prime time lineup. Considering they weren't even included after playing in the Superbowl, I guess it isn't too much of a surprise. Hopefully they will be included when the Thanksgiving schedule is announced. For now here is the line up...

Thur........Giants vs Redskins
Sun Night...Indy vs Bears
1st Mon.....Packers vs Vikings
2nd Mon.....Denver vs Raiders

Good to know that this team will be able to at least garner another "us against the world" mentality, or the "we get no respect" attitude. That seemed to propel them quite well in 05' as they constantly heard that they weren't as good as their record. Meanwhile, the opening Monday night will be highlighted by that thrilling Aaron Rodgers vs Tavaris Jackson duel, then followed by a terrible GM vs a terrible owner. Thrilling!! By the way, since the Mon. night double header started 3 years ago, this is the Vikings and the Raiders second appearance in the opening night. Now that is good marketing!!! END

  1. It is absolute bullcrap that we got passed over in favor of FOUR non-playoff teams on opening weekend.

We BETTER get that Turkey day game in Dallas.

At least we know we aren't playing NYG, DC or GB on opening weekend...

  2. This is an outrage but not suprising. I guess this is not based on teams that are any good. I mean Raiders vs. Denver? Give me a break.

  3. DKSB- This the second time in 3 years that the vikes and raiders have been included. I just added that! That is what really sucks!!

  4. I hate that we ALWAYS have to watch the AFC west. Either they get the primetime slot for no reason or we are subjected to watching them while missing a much better afc game on sundays. How many times during the season do you flip over to the afc game only to see the raiders in a field goal battle royal and see the score for an exciting game happening elsewhere in the AFC universe! No one should have to watch the raiders or any-non playoff team from the year before in primetime unless they are flexed in at the end of the season based on performance. They should front load prime-time early in the season with playoff redos and good division (see NFC east) matchups. Let the cream rise to the top early. Realspd

  5. It's just absolute crap. What about the PATRIOTS?

Anyways...do we know of any other Sunday and Monday night games that are coming up for Seattle? Or are they not announced until later?

  6. Looks like they're appealing to key regional rivalries for ratings rather than to the best teams or matchups. Frankly, I'd pay NOT to have to watch the Raiders or Broncos. Giants v Skins might be okay. None of them will have me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting with beer in hand for the game to begin.

  7. I have been on a "no respect" rant for about a decade and a 1/2 now.. I guess a 4 time winner of the NFC West is not as good as a team that has not made the playoffs in George W's 2nd term.

My view, sc'rum, we will be on TV in January when they are on the golf course!

    Oh and UP YOURS PeterDorKing!

  8. The Monday night games have become a joke. the Sunday night game is obviously the marquee game each week.

Please keep us off Mondays and NFL Network Thursday night games if at all possible!

  9. Frank is reporting no Hawk compensatory draft picks. How does this change our outlook?

  10. I am seriously starting to hate the NFL. Can't the team petition this? It seems we always get overlooked for these primetime games. Let's start a campaign for Turkey-Day against Dallas. Why the hell does it always have to be Dallas anyway? We need that recognition. We want to play at home for Turkey Day.

  11. Little late for a petition, they should announce the TGiving day schedule later today.

  12. Yeah, let's showcase opening weekend with a bunch of non-playoff teams from secondary markets.

But the old farts banging their gums will love it with teams that were worth watching 20 years ago.

I think Al Davis has a deal file one less lawsuit against the League if they give him a prime time spot opening weekend.

I'm still shocked it wasn't mostly major market teams.

  13. You know what? Maybe I've just been sniffing laser toner or something, but it's a good thing to be a stealth team. Seriously.

By the time the rest of the league wakes up (after having their asses kicked by the division champs,) we'll be in GREAT position.

Then again, doesn't matter how well we do, we still will NEVER get the press and the respect. Maybe it's a good thing, huh?

  14. Yeah, I know it's good to be a "stealth team" in a lot of ways.

But Eff that. It would be nice to get the respect we deserve for once, and I sure wouldn't mind rooting for a team that is favored and just goes ahead and puts foot to ass anyway.

A 14-2 season capped with a Lombardi Trophy sounds pretty good to me... who knows, we might get that this year. :-]
