Seahawks' Player to Watch in 2008...

By Chris Sullivan

Caught this on Yahoo! Sports and I totally agree. The person they selected was without a doubt one of my favorite players last year, and I'm excited to see how he progresses this year... who was it? Check it out here, and why don't you go ahead and use the comment thread to discuss who the Hawks' player to watch is next year?

  1. Hey Chris, it's gotta be Logan Payne. With all of Ruskells gushing over him I think he's gonna be someone to watch this season.

  2. I think that the player to watch this year is who ever the new Long snapper is!

That and I'll be watching to see how Josh Wilson performs too

  3. Along those same lines....Burleson has to be one to watch. Given the great unkown that is our receiving corps currently, he has the chance to really make a splash in '08.

  4. Like the pick. Mebane stepped up big time in 2007.

I like Leroy Hill as someone to watch. I think he has a real breakout year next season, hopefully we can lock him up longterm.

  5. They better lock Leroy up long term, or else my Hill 56 Authentic is gonna be out of style real quick!

  6. I'd say Tapp is the player to watch. I think he has to prove that he can really play RDE. I really like his heart and drive but he needs to improve at both run d and pass rush.

The 3rd year is usually when players are finnally comfortable in the the NFL and breakout out. That to me means Jennings, Tapp, Sims, Placky and Obomanu are all in for good seasons.. We'll see

  7. I'm liking Taylor. He is the least talked about of the young recievers and I think he has great potential. I loved what he did at Auburn and did a good job with the little PT he has gotten, just a little green. With another offseason to age up a bit I think he will be overlooked by opposing D's and will create some problems. Much like Engram did for alot of his career by being over shadowed.

  20. I hate the Seahawks inability to win on the road.

Look for Solari to have a big year next year... yeah, that's right the OL coach.

I also like Tapp, Mebane and JJ to make significant contributions.

For the Hawks to make a solid run though (pun intended) we need Sims, Spencer and Jenkins to play above expectations.

    2 cents.

  21. I agree, Mebine stepped up last year and played solid. I have to say it's pretty cool to see a little media attention for the youngster. I have a feeling he's gonna have a great sophomore season.

    D-jack getting the boot.
After adding receivers Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson since the start of free agency on February 29, the 49ers have opted to trim from the roster veteran wideout Darrell Jackson, reports Adam Schefter of NFL Network.

Jackson was traded to San Fran in 2007 from the Seahawks for a fourth-round draft pick. Through the 2004 season he was developing into a high-end receiver, but knee problems limited him significantly in 2005. He was able to participate in 13 games in 2006, but the addition of Nate Burleson and Deion Branch made him expendable.

With the 49ers, he started 15 games and caught 46 passes for 497 yards and three touchdowns.

It’s unknown whether Jackson has anything left, but teams that run the West Coast offense will likely have an interest. The most likely destinations include the Vikings, Bucs, Eagles, and Redskins.
