Lawyer Milloy to Seattle?

by: Chris Sullivan

Yesterday in an interview with Softy Mahler on KJR, Lawyer Milloy stated that he would love to come home to Seattle to finish his career. Milloy's best years are likely behind him, but if we compare him to Brian Russell, I think Milloy provides a good one to two year stopgap measure while we work on getting a rookie (Patrick Chung?) into NFL shape.

Last year, Milloy had 93 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble, while Russell had 72 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble (and about 60 blown coverages). Russell appeared to peak in his second year (95 tackles, 9 ints) whereas Milloy has only had one season with fewer than 90 tackles (at least, since 2001 when the NFL.com's stats kick in). Milloy missed one game in 2008 and five in 2004--the only six he has missed in his 208 regular season games in the league. Despite his age (35), it does not appear that health is a major issue with Milloy.

So, what do you guys think? Is it worth pursuing a 35 year old strong safety to replace a 31 year old strong safety? Would you rather have Milloy or Michael Huff? ~END~
