Thanks to my brother Tim for this piece of news: the Packers have released their sack leader Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila. Gbaja-Biamila is a 9 year veteran and has 74.5 career sacks, but has only started one game thus far this year. He is a very high character player, and with Kerney potentially heading to the IR list this might be a good pickup for the Hawks.
Gbaja-Biamila does not appear to have a history of injuries, and last year--as a backup for 13 of his 15 games played--he had 9.5 sacks. It seems they have moved on from him mostly as part of the their defense's push to get younger. Also, he had the teams largest cap hit coming in at over 7 million bucks annually.
What say you, Addicts?
[ADDENDUM: For an interesting look into Gbaja-Biamila's production this year, readers may be interested in reading this article by Rob Demovsky from the October 7th edition of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. -Ed.] ~END~
