If the Seahawks want him to be their next tight end he might be. At least so says Rob Rang over at Seahawks Insider. Rang has placed Carlson in the first round on his tight end analysis.
Rang has provided is customary breakdown of players to be considered for each round. He has started with tight ends.
Some of you may feel differently, but to me, part of the appeal of John Carlson was that he would present a good value. If the Hawks have to take him late in the first or early in the second, my feelings change. Rang says Carlson is "rising fast." I guess he is, considering in his latest mock (3 days ago) he had Carlson going to the Hawks in the second. Now it seems that may be wishful thinking.
Can I be honest? The week before the draft is so absurd. How has Carlson improved his stock in the last week? Teams have be poking, prodding, interviewing and watching tape on him for a year. A month ago he had slipped to the fourth, now he is back to the first.
Either way, with the current class of tight ends, I think the Hawks are best served looking for value, not specific players. We all have our favorites, but one thing that most of us agree on is that there is no sure thing available this year. END
