To further fan the flames on the running back debate, out comes info like this...
The Seahawks held their mini combine like workout for 16 players this morning. This is not uncommon. They are allowed to bring in local guys to work out on a specific day. These do not count as official visits.
According to KFFL, At this work out, Louis Rankin blew away the competition by running a 4.40. Add this on to a late round/FA like Chauncy Washington who ran a 4.35, and you can see how late round running backs become appealing.
I personally believe that Jonathan Stewart will be a heck of player in the NFL. I would love for him to be a Seahawk. However, with the punishment these guys take on a weekly basis, it would seem that a running back needs a little luck as much as anything to become great. Any running back who plays college football is a heck of an athlete. When you think about the money you pay a first rounder vs a fifth rounder, as an example, and both have 4.4 speed, you can see why there are such differing opinions amongst NFL execs about taking running backs. END.
