Seahawks Sign Punter

by: Michael Steffes

After working out a punter who will be available via draft, or as a free agent afterwords last week, the Seahawks have signed Reggie Hodges. This is according to the staff at Seahawks.net. Hodges is a third year punter who was originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2005. Hodges has had stints with several teams including the Eagles and Colts.

While he hasn't really kicked extensively since the 05' season, it is likely he is just being brought in to create a competitive atmosphere in camp. During the 06' season, then rookie Ryan Plackemeier was excellent, leaving the Seahawks to believe they had their punter for the foreseeable future. However, with no competition to push him, Plackemeier underachieved, especially in the consistency department. Hodges addition is the best way to ensure "Fudge" will return to his old form. END
