Thank the Heavens

Here is some news that flat out makes my weekend. Mike Florio at Profootballtalk.com is reporting that Bryant Gumbel is out, as the play by play man for NFL Network. This is simply fantastic news. Maybe some of you liked Gumbel. I felt he made the broadcasts close to unwatchable.

He often called players with their wrong first names. He showed little knowledge of the game itself. However most of all, he was just boring. I am sure many viewers like me, excited about an extra prime time game, were displeased with his work from the very beginning. It is not clear who will replace him, however, Tom Hammond did a fine job working with Collinsworth during two games last year, including the Seahawks wild card game. END
