Bobby, Pipe Down and Play

by: Michael Steffes

I may be a bit late to the party on this one, as I see that this article was posted yesterday at ESPN.com. However, apparently Bobby is back on the field and running his mouth about not getting a contract extension.

He is taking the Seahawks' receiver struggles and running with the fact that he isn't locked up beyond this year. In a way we really need Bobby, but it has not gone unnoticed that a 35 year old WR has already missed all three games this season. There is no guarantee that he will stay healthy form hereon out. This is one of the reasons he doesn't have an extension. The team needs to see him stay healthy and productive before extending the aging WR's contract.

His best bet at getting a new contract is to pipe down and play. In this offense he will get the opportunity to put together a nice year, despite missing the first three games. That is what will get him an extension after the year. We know where he stands. But if I recall correctly, it was Bobby who said that the offseason is for dealing with business and the regular season is for coming to play. Let's not go back and start mixing the two. Did you not learn anything from the D-Jack situation, Bobby? Your best bet to get a good deal next year is with the Hawks, not a new team. Go make some plays and the money will follow. ~END~
