Eric Williams has reported that the Seahawks players have presented Coach Holmgren with the Steve Largent award, something that's usually reserved for players.
"It just kind of got circulated as a good idea," Hasselbeck said. "Someone brought it up, and I think most of the players were pretty excited to do it. I think he's earned our respect, that's obvious."Holmgren is the first coach to receive the honor since its inception in 1989.
Holmgren also gave out some of his own awards after practice, giving game balls to Seneca Wallace on offense, Macrus Trufant on defense, and Olindo Mare on special teams.
Also, for those who aren't aware, Sunday's game against the Jets has the potential to be one of the snowiest and most overall insane football games ever played in the city of Seattle. A snowstorm accompanied by high winds and periodic freezing rain is on its jolly way into the Puget Sound area as I type this, with its arrival projected to peak just in time for kickoff. (If you're planning on tailgating, I demand you email us pictures.)
Regardless of the final score, I think the sentimental value of this game, along with the possibility of a Northwestern impression of Antarctica, will make it an absolute must-watch. -END-
