Okay, boys and girls, here we go:
First of all, could the Seahawks please mike up the reporters? It's tough to hear their questions . . .
Coach sits down at the desk; he's not looking especially pleased.
Business as usual this week. Roster thing: Chris Spencer--his back is banged up.
Walter's not practicing this week, most likely, but he will play Sunday.
Leroy is "problematic," and Coach is concerned.
Everyone got Friday through Sunday off. The coaches were at the VMAC off and on most of the weekend.
Dallas: "Interesting game." He said he was "impressed" with their offense. He said they have very good size and skill; they're "big and fast" at WR. He also praised the tight ends--"good players." Mostly, he thought we had to "shock them" and it didn't get done. The game boiled down to the red zone--they were getting it done, and we weren't.
Game second half: no pass protection. "Matt got banged around pretty good." He thought Matt had a good game.
"We couldn't keep up with them."
He told the team today they're playing to win, whatever that means. If there are roster adjustments, they're "doing it".
OL: "We're playing who's healthy." Womack may play more to aid the running backs.
DL: We're already playing the "young draft choice." He doesn't see a lot of drastic changes to be done. They're playing whomever's "healthy."
John Carlson had a "great game" against Dallas, and Coach seems to be happy with how he's playing.
"Matt's going to play." (There goes that whole idea of putting Matt on IR, huh?) "I hope we can protect him a little better."
Mike Wahle is "week to week." His injury is not responding to treatment. It sounds like a disc injury, from conversation I couldn't quite make out. (Please, Seahawks, could we have a microphone in the crowd?)
Coach has high expectations for Chris Spencer. He believes he's a "good football player," but may be "unlucky and injury-prone."
The player comments in the media: "Sometimes players say things they believe but aren't necessarily true." The turnovers and interceptions aren't happening this season so far.
"Be careful" with regard to blitzing. He says there's multiple plays where we blitzed, then got burned by a long touchdown.
He calls the player comments "frustration . . . things get said." They've also now seen the Dallas film.
He made a long answer to a question I couldn't hear, but must have been about the secondary. Holmgren's response included the phrases "High expectation level" and "it's a confidence thing, it's a momentum thing."
He was asked about Pro Bowl selections, specifically Marcus Trufant. He says Marcus is "consistent," "steady," and a "good player." He doesn't know if anyone will be chosen because of the team's record, if I heard him correctly.
Talking about Cassel:
1. Surrounding team is very, very good
2. Defensive football team is still defensive team
To lose Tom Brady and still excel means that they are a "great organization."
He said he might play some of the younger guys this week.
There was one more question he declined to answer, saying, "What am I going to talk about on Wednesday if I answer that now?"
There you go, ladies and gentlemen.
Note from Chris: Thanks Strat! Thanks also to jphawker and Hawksfanatic!
