Monitoring Mora

by: Mike Parker

Hi everyone - Gonzo here, back in the saddle from a vacation to visit family in Northern California over the holiday weekend.

As a lot of you know who have been keeping up with recent events, today was supposedly the day that Jim Mora had been rumored to announce his acceptance of the UW coaching job. Fortunately, the 12th Man can breathe a sigh of relief today, because it appears Mora is definitely not a consideration for it.

Danny O'Neil posted an update in his blog on this development this morning, thanks to Seattle Times reporter Bob Condotta's story on Texas Tech coach Mike Leach meeting with UW officials this week. Specifically, Danny points out one sentence of interest in Condotta's story:

Another coach whom sources also insist can just about be crossed off is Jim Mora, who is in line to be the next coach of the Seahawks. One source said that while UW has talked with Mora -- and it's thought is still interested in him -- there have never been any serious conversations as Mora is thought intent on staying with the Seahawks.
At least it's reassuring to hear that Mora is apparently sticking to his word and choosing to fix the Renton-based trainwreck as opposed to the one on Montlake Blvd. But if Mike Leach, whose Red Raiders are 11-1 on the year, is offered the Huskies coaching job, and Jim Mora is at the helm for the Seahawks, maybe the days of national news stories about Seattle sports being the most depressing in the country would finally be over. I have hope, my friends. -END-
