Mel Kiper loves this pick. I am not so sure. However, he did make one interesting correlation: Deon Butler had a very similar Penn State career to another guy we are familiar with, Bobby Engram. Butler also projects to play in the slot. In fact, Butler supplanted Bobby on the all-time Penn St receiving list this last season.
The pick I can live with, but the price seems a little steep. Giving up next year's 3rd and two of our remaining picks today for a player that will likely contribute on special teams this year isn't something I would do, but I am not a GM.
Another note: Butler is a similar player to the two WRs who had extremely productive rookie seasons in similar systems last year, Desean Jackson and Eddie Royal. All three are under 6', quick, fast, and have been extremely productive in college.
Maybe this will work out for the best. END
