Hawk Talk Around the Web

by: Michael Steffes

Lots of good stories popping up around the web with the Hawks in camp. Here is a sampling if you are looking for some evening/morning reading.

Danny O'Neil checks in with a couple of Hawks looking to rebound from last season. Lofa still won't talk about the injuries that dogged him in 08'. Julius Jones is excited about one cut and go running in the zone blocking system. And Lawrence Jackson is looking forward to his second season. There have been numerous Pro Bowl defensive ends who had underwhelming first seasons. Hopefully Jackson follows in their footsteps.

Also from Danny, Tyler Schmitt is on the mend and looking forward to contributing this year. He had a dicey procedure done on his spine, but claims he is now 100%.

Gregg Bell of the AP says the Hawks have a glaring need at linebacker. With JP gone, and Leroy choosing not to sign his franchise tender, Will Herring and Launce Laury have been working on the outside. Bell says Aaron Curry would be a perfect fit. Will Herring doesn't have a problem with it, he thinks the team should draft a linebacker too.

Tony Ventrella, from Seahawks.com has a nice little write up about Nasty Nate Burleson. Believe it or not, but the hometown kid is now the senior member of the Hawks receiving corps. Nate seems to be embracing his role as a leader, and says that TJ is really buying into the family atmosphere this team has.

Also, Mike Holmgren made an appearance today.... at Husky practice. Apparently he got to see quite a defensive exhibition. We can all wonder what it must be like for Big Show not to have a team to worry about and scream at this time of year.
