Kiper Says Monroe's the Pick

by: William P. Tomisser

With 15 days to go until the draft, Mel Kiper says Seattle will pick Eugene Monroe from Virginia. He sees the top four picks as 1) Stafford to Detroit, 2) Jason Smith to the Rams, 3) Curry to Kansas City, and 4) Monroe to Seattle. The link is here.

I think that's a reasonable forecast, given that Detroit takes Stafford and one of the top two tackles drops to us at number four. To me, it seems that Seattle has dealt with just about every other hole on the team in free agency except the offensive line and the just-concluded mini camp seemed to show a fair potential for problems with lingering injuries or just the need for upgraded talent.

Of course, we've already beat this one to death here at SA, but it's what happens if Detroit takes an offensive tackle and sets off a chain of events where the top two choices at tackle are gone by the time it gets to be our pick that has everyone wondering what will happen at that point.

I think it's a pretty good bet that if either Monroe or Smith is there, that's who we pick. The suspense is killing me.

Hasta,
