Seahawks Bringing in Maybin

by: Michael Steffes

Here is a draft prospect that I didn't expect to see heading out to the great Northwest, but Penn State defensive end/OLB prospect Aaron Maybin is coming to Seattle for a visit on Friday.

That information is available from Ken Murray of Ravens Insider. Obviously he is meeting the Ravens as well.

This is an interesting visit for several reasons. For one, the Seahawks got to look at Maybin during the combine, and presumably at his pro day as well. As you may have noticed, the Seahawks don't bring in all the possible targets and show them around Renton.

Also, Maybin would be a jaw dropper at #4, but as the article says,

there's no chance he could fall to their [the Ravens'] 26th pick.
So, it is unlikely he will be around when the Seahawks pick in the 2nd round. Hmmmmm. Does this mean there's a trade in the works? Perhaps. Or Maybe Tim Ruskell is going to shock the world -- you never know with that cat.

One person who wouldn't be shocked is Maybin's pops:
Based on what he's heard, Mike Maybin thinks Aaron could go in the top 5. Because he is the best pure pass rusher in the draft, that's possible.
Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking on the Maybin family's part, but I guess anything is possible. END
