Qwest Field is getting kinda crowded these days, but I suppose that is a good thing since the taxpayers who contributed would like to get as much use out it as possible.
In a trend that has been taking root around the country with college football rivalry games, the Huskies and Cougars appear on the verge of agreeing to hold the Apple Cup annually at Qwest Field. This will start in 2010 moving forward.
One of the ways Jerry Jones is planning on making the newest monument to his greatness in Dallas profitable is by hosting numerous college football games. He has the Cotton Bowl lined up and is angling for the Red River Shootout.
Qwest Field has recently hosted games such as Western vs Central and now will be taking a step up with what is assured to be a popular annual event. The two universities are expected to agree because of the extra money it will create for their athletic departments.
Usually this game is played on a Saturday night in late November, so it shouldn't interfere with the Hawks' schedule. Of course, it would have been nice if the Sounders didn't either. Soccer is great for the city, but is also the reason for a three game road trip. It's a tough trade off for a die hard Seahawks fan with season tickets, but at least it takes place when the weather is usually pretty dreary. END
