Preseason Game Wrapup

by: Chris Sullivan

Well, well, well. That was fun. Its amazing to remember exactly how much I love the Seahawks. There's just nothing better, is there?

Overall, I thought our offense looked fantastic, with special notice given to our running game. Someone in the live chat pointed out the irony of the situation though... it looks likely that Morris and Weaver start, with Jones backing up and Duckett possibly not making the team. I think thats premature, but Morris and Weaver both looked very good today, especially Momo.

Justin "Lil Justy" Forsett was a beast in the fourth quarter, with 13 carries for 58 yards, while MoMo had 6 carries for 62 yards. Worth noting is that Forsett was playing with the 3rd string line, though right now, the first string line was pretty close to the third string with all our injuries.

Offensive MVP: Momo, for the above reasons, but second honors definitely goes to Seneca Wallace who had an extraordinary game with the second team offense. 75% complete and 3 TDs. Third honors goes to Michael Bumpus who was playing his heart out and it showed.

Defensive MVP: David Hawthorne! Fantastic game by the Heater, with two forced fumbles, a few pass defenses, and huge hit after huge hit. The second half hawks defense did not give up a point, and looked very, very cohesive. Second honors: Howard Green and Laurence Jackson, both had awesome games with very big plays. Nice interception at the end, Howie!

Biggest disappointment of the day: TJ Duckett. Didn't really do a whole lot, lost two fumbles (both were called back, but the first one was kind of a questionable facemask... so...)

Biggest question of the day: What the hell do we do with Michael Bumpus, Joel Filani, Justin Forsett and so forth... awesome efforts by them all, but is there a spot on the roster? Doesn't seem like it.

UPDATE: Heroic Performance of the Day:

Steve Vallos!

Everybody's favorite guy that nobody had heard about a few weeks ago had a fantastic game today, stepping up to the plate when asked. Did you hear his name called once? No? That means he was doing a kickass job. You really like to avoid hearing the center's name, in general. Thanks to the Addicts who pointed out my ignorance in not congratulating him, I had actually meant to, but was in a hurry to get an ankle brace before my football game tomorrow.

A special thanks to all the guys and gals who showed up in the Seahawk Addicts chat room. We'll try to get one going for all the games -- we had between 25-30 people in there all night, with great conversation abounding. Thanks for all of you who contributed! ~END~
