And I have happy dogs again! Who could have predicted that ten minutes after I leave the house Julius Jones would sign? Glad I had pre-warned all of you it was happening. Thank you for being so kind to Mrs SA. It would seem shortly that SA will stand for Seahawk Addicts and not #37.
Espn has a story that breaks down the contract right here. It is a four year deal worth about 3 million per. Considering that a signing bonus is sure to be involved, the first year cap hit is likely to be substantially less than the 4.6 million the Hawks can save by cutting Shaun and designating him as a June 1st cut. For more analysis....
There has been no official word that I know of about this, but how could Shaun Alexander return to a team where he expected to be the focal point of the offense after management signed 2 people in less than a week who will take away his carries. Shaun is probably quite upset right now. I expect him to be released soon, if not he may ask for his release much like Warrick Dunn did. He will probably catch on somewhere and have a fine season. I hope he does. It was just too toxic a situation in Seattle after last year. If things had gone poorly, the fan reaction would have be merciless .
As for Jones, well, I am going to take a wait and see approach. Obviously, the front office was serious about fixing the running game and they have made some interesting moves. If the improvement goes from bad to solid, like the safety play last year, as a fan, I like our chances. This team will always pass a lot. They need a solid, not spectacular running game to compete amongst the NFL elite. Lets face it, like Brady and Manning, Matt Hasselbeck has become the star of this team.
