A few questions heading into the Vikings game...

by: Chris Sullivan

Well, well, well... the season begins tomorrow (more or less). I think there are a few topics we've really covered half to death, but there are a few more questions we haven't really tapped into too much on the blog. Below is a list of questions I'm looking to have answered while watching the game tomorrow, and y'know, possibly re-watching it Saturday a couple of times...

1) Is Steve Vallos a viable backup? Last I heard, Vallos will be the starting center, and from what I can tell, with Gray's retirement he most likely gets the backup job behind Spencer -- unless he blows it. Obviously, we'll need to see how he handles the snaps, but it will also be interesting to see how he handles blocking a couple of huge mofos coming at him looking for a QB sandwich.

2) Will Fudge Plackemeier lose his job to Reggie Hodges? Plack had an awesome rookie year (can punters have awesome years?), but last year he fell off quite a bit. He still did a fantastic job of pinning opponents deep in their territory, but with his injury and with Hodges still probably holding quite a few student loans, we could see quite a rivalry here. Hey, its no QB controversy, but we'll take what we can get around here. It will also be interesting to see Reggie hold for the kickers on our 15-20 PATs tomorrow.

3) Will LoJack jack the starting job from Tapp? I think there is a good chance of this, but Jackson has made it clear that he's still learning and trying to get all the input he can -- a Ruskellian attitude to be sure -- but will he be ready on day one? I don't think the "starter" is really going to matter, because the rotation should give both of them plenty of snaps. Another question though, is who backs up Kerney? The Hawks have made it sound like he'll be sharing snaps with someone, in hopes of keeping him strong and able for years to come. Babin?

4) Who will be the #1 reciever? Alright, alright, #3? #4? #5? Will there be a #6? We'll all be watching the WRs, so I'll leave it there.

5) Will Owen Schmitt make the team? I say no, and I say Forsett does. I am likely wrong, but we'll learn much more tomorrow. I'm pullin for ya, Justin!

Obviously, time for you to mention where you'll be keeping your attention focused tomorrow! Hit it up in the comments... also, is anyone watching this Cardinals game? Bush (BUSH!) ran all over them early on, including one play where there was literally a 4 or 5 yard hole in the center of the line. It was negated by a holding penalty, but still...
