Several reports have touted the skills of WR Ben Obomanu during today's practice, including this one by Danny O'Neil. This could partially be due to the absence of show-stealing Logan Payne, but Ben isn't exactly a slouch. Everyone remembers how he stepped up last year after Branch went down, and I'm predicting Ben's going to have nothing short of a breakout season. He's already developed the trust with Hasselbeck to become a reliable target, and in a West Coast Offense, the sky's the limit from there.
On a side note, my friends, we shouldn't be too concerned about the injuries the team has recently accrued. It might be three days before the preseason opener in Minnesota, but it's still a good month before the start of the real deal. That should be more than enough time for guys like Spencer, Pork Chop, Payne and Bryant to heal and be ready to kick ass and take names by Week 1 in Buffalo.
Speaking of Buffalo, I'm beginning to think their shaky QB situation could turn into a total feeding frenzy for Kerney & co. And on the Bills' other end of things, Marcus Stroud is more beat-up than a 30-year-old pincushion. (Yes, I've been thinking about football just a bit today. Just a bit.) -END-
