With the days dragging on , and the first week of Free agency coming towards close, there has been very little encouraging news if your DJ Hackett or his Agent. This is very encouraging if you a Seahawk fan who wants to 12oo yrds and 10 TD's from him next year.
Two days ago, Hack's agent felt the need to release a statement saying on Monday saying...
"(The Titans) told us Friday they would be in touch with us this week," the agent said. "We were told the same thing by the Redskins, that they would be in touch with us. We are obviously not panicking by any stretch."
So I thought I would take Seahawk Addict readers and all those who entered the Hackett Contract Contest around the league and see what people are saying. If interested.....
Music City Miracles reports.....
The Titans had notified D.J. Hackett's agent last week that he would hear from them this week, but as of last night they had not called him back. It seems pretty obvious that the Titans aren't that interested in him.
The Philly Daily News says...
If the Eagles were excited about the top name left on the market - Seattle's D.J. Hackett - he would be visiting, and, as of last night, he wasn't.
Bills Insider says...(about Washington's interest)
With Bryant Johnson also scheduled to visit the Redskins there's obviously competition. I'm hearing Washington likes Johnson and it appears he's their top target at wideout. They also like Seattle's D.J. Hackett, but they're waiting to see what happens with Johnson here in Buffalo before possibly bringing Hackett in for a visit.
Jason LaCanfora said this over the weekend...
Skins watchiing the DJ Hackett market, and with WRs drying up it will be interesting to see if they make a play in the next 48 hours should he still be sitting there.
The last I can found out of Tampa is something already posted. That....
Word is, they're not that enamored with the Seahawks' D.J. Hackett, either.
I think that Washington is the real Wild Card here. Hackett probably wouldn't take less money to remain with Seattle over Washington. I have gotten the sense that he would stay, over a team like Kansas City, with no quarterback. But with Zorn as the coach, I really think it is down to two teams. A surprise team could come out of know where, it has happened before, but unless Al Davis's senile mind comes up with another 15 in guarantees, I think Hack is looking a smaller short term deal. As I have commented before, if he is going to sign a lesser short term deal, the business plan his agent should be presenting is a 1yr deal with the Hawks, stay healthy, win a Superbowl, and hit the market again next year. If Hack could ply 15 or 16 games next year, he would make himself a very rich man. If he could have done that up to now, he probably would be already.
