Kris Wilson on Seahawks Radar

According to this article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, who are probably now working on far more important things (see previous post), mention that the Packers and the Seahawks are both interested in former Kansas City TE, Kris Wilson.

Wilson played mostly H-Back for the Chiefs, which is a fullback, tightend hybrid position, much like Chris Cooley. This usually means he is athletic and can both catch and block. The Hawks would probably use him as tight end, and I would assume Mike Solari is giving him rave reviews.

Also, if you read the whole article, it would appear Green Bay's long snapper is available. I always take note as the black hole of long snappers has yet to be plugged.

Anyway for the scout breakdown of Wilson........

Comment: Wilson is a four-year veteran out of Pittsburgh that the Chiefs drafted in the second round of the 2004 draft. He is a very versatile athlete that lines up at both FB as well as TE. He is an adequate blocker that does a good job of locating his target and understands angles but is not real explosive and often ends up getting just a piece of the block rather than facing up and hitting the target right down the middle. He often sets his feet and lunges at blocks rather than bringing his feet and hitting through the target. He is not as big as youd like for a pure blocking TE so they end up using him in the backfield most of the time or as the H back where he does not have to match up with the bigger defensive ends around the league. He is a good receiver with soft, natural hands that can pluck the ball outside his frame and has enough speed to challenge the secondary down the middle. He has adequate run skills for after the catch and can make a man miss in space, but is not apt to take the ball all the way.
