Leonard Weaver Interview

Leonard Weaver was just interviewed on Sirius NFL radio. It was a pretty good interview. Clearly Schien and Wilcotts would have loved for Leonard to tell the world what was going on in the RB meetings up in Seattle, but he was too smart to do that.

If you want to read some of what Leonard said.....

First, off he said he is in Seattle and working hard to make sure he is in position to have a great season.

There has been some interest in him as a RFA, from the Jets and Bears primarily. He has not taken nor has any visits scheduled.

He said (about 10 times) that he loves Seattle, he loves this organization, and that he hopes he stays here for life. However, he understands that things don't always work out that way.

He said he is hoping to negotiate a long term deal with the Hawks but understands very clearly that right now he is not very high on the priority list, understandably.

He has been talking to Shaun a lot. He can't disclose what is going on, but says Shaun and the organization have been talking and no one is being left out of the loop.

They asked him about 37's injuries and Leonard said that he could have very easily chosen to miss more time, but he felt an obligation to the team

They asked about Holmgren leaving and Mora coaching, and as far as he is concerned there are no negative aspects to having the next coach there already. He thinks it was a smart move and while it is hard to replace a HOFer, he thinks Mora will do very well in Seattle.

He said Mack Strong taught him more about the league than anyone else. He said that he understands he is playing a dying position and that is why he works very hard to make sure he is a versatile threat, running, catching, blocking (run or pass), and he thinks this would make him valuable even in a single back system.

He is excited about Julius Jones coming on board because he feels that the team need a RB who was a homerun threat. He is excited to learn how to run in short yardage situations from Duckett.

He hasn't talked to Mo lately, but said that Mo will be the old timer if Shaun is released.

No matter what, he said the Hawks will run the ball a lot better next season. He said it has to happen if they want to go further. (no shit!)

And of course, they went to break after the interview with "Dream Weaver" He can get you through the night.....
