Tim Ruskell Favors Stewart

Profootballweekly has a rumor article called whispers that comes out every 5 to 7 days. This weeks, posted this morning contains two whispers about the Seahawks.

Here is what they say....

  • Our Seahawks sources tell us the team couldn’t cut beleaguered RB Shaun Alexander right now, even if they wanted to, because he is still recovering from surgery on his left wrist. If the team released Alexander without some sort of injury settlement, the door would be open for an injury grievance, which would tie up even more money under the team’s already-tight salary cap.
  • There are rumblings that Seahawks president of football operations/GM Tim Ruskell absolutely loves Orgeon RB Jonathan Stewart — perhaps enough to trade up from the 25th spot in the first round to land him.
First, Shaun. If they wanted to reach a settlement they would. Kevin Jones just got cut with an ACL injury. The Seahawks are just in no rush to do anything, and unless Shaun starts whining about it, they will stand pat till they have to make a move.

Second, Jonathan Stewart. I hope this is true. I absolutely love J-Stew too. However, I naturally question anything that comes out about who loves who this time of year because most of it is smokescreen.

Either way, maybe now the Seahawks won't have to trade up and they can still get him. The only team that has a back in place that would also be willing to wait is AZ, but they need a CB, and if they took a 1st round RB, they would cut Edge to create cap space, so I think they would prefer someone who is ready day one.

Thanks Misfit, for pointing this out. END
