Well, in a twist that I was personally hoping wouldn't happen, the Lions and Rams have passed on coaching the Senior Bowl -- but so did the Chiefs, Browns, Raiders and Seahawks. This means that the Jaguars and Bengals will coach the Senior Bowl, and we will not be getting a chance to look at the recruits for later rounds and such. Well, thats not entirely true, this means we are passing on the chance to do so.
To me, this probablym eans one of two things -- either we already have the information Ruskell + Co. feel we require to enter the draft, or we, like the other declining teams, don't feel that coaching the players for a week actually helps all that much.
I am personally a bit torn, I was expecting us to take the opportunity if it presented itself, but at the same time, I'm not sure how much value would really come from it; after all, yes, the 49ers snagged a player like Patrick Willis after being wowed by him at the Senior Bowl, but he was still heavily touted. Sure, it can make a difference to get that insight, but if you've had success in mid-round drafting anyway, how much is it really worth to you? Everyone knows the top 10, after all...
What do you guys think? Are you disappointed, or do you not really care?
