Open Thread -- Cards vs. Eagles

by: Chris Sullivan

I'm not sure how much interest there is out there for this game, but I know deep down we're all football fans. Feel free to discuss the game with us in the comments. Here's what I'm looking for:

  • Will the Eagles be more resilient in sticking to the run game? The Panthers gave up far too early on Williams and Stewart last week, and Delhomme's 5 interceptions kept forcing them deeper into the passing game as time kept ticking away. If Westbrook can get going, the Cardinals will be hard pressed to stop him and, in turn, stop the passing game.
  • Will Edgerrin James keep up his recent "NFL Player" character? The Cards will need at least the threat of James or Hightower to get the ball to Boldin, Breaston, and Larry Fitz (most importantly).
  • Few people in the league want, or feel they deserve, a championship as much as Brian Dawkins -- look for him to focus on Fitzgerald and trying to shut him down. Can he do so effectively? Few have been able to, that much is certain...
  • I'm rooting for the Eagles, both out of obligation to root for Sando's NFC Pick  and out of obligation to root against our enemies -- the Cardinals (or the 49ers or the Rams or the Raiders... the damn Raiders...)
What say you?
