I am not sure if I ever saw this mentioned on the blog, but I noted it in the comments section several days ago. The Hawks have inked some players to futures contracts.
Teams often ink players to these type of deals when the season ends to ensure that they will be bringing these players to camp. I see it being reported by Clare Farsworth now as well. Here are the moves the Hawks made:
From their own practice squad they signed WR Michael Bumpus, DT Kevin Brown, TE Joe Newton, and CB Marquis Floyd.
They also inked TE John Tershinski (Wake Forest) and long snapper Ryan Senser.
Clearly the team is making sure it has some options at TE, considering Will Heller is a free agent and the team will not be bringing back Jeb Putzier. Also, with Tyler Schmitt's back situation still unresolved, the team will again be trying to fix the black hole that has become the Seattle long snappper position. Whatever Jeff Robinson wants to keep playing, give it to him! ~END~
