Oh what could have been, and what yet might be. Mike Sando has done a nice write up for ESPN on the tight end position in Seattle. No pressure John Carlson.
Anyway, Sando's article covers the dearth of quality tight end play in Seattle in the Mike Holmgren era. Hopefully John Carlson is the answer. Hopefully the team will still be running a similar offense come next year.
Regardless, if you want to understand in greater depth why the tight end position is so critical to both the run and pass game, there is some good info here. If Carlson is what the Hawks think he will be, the have already improved the offense more than we know, running and passing. END
