There had been a bit of question surrounding the Bills fake field goal last Sunday. Mike Holmgren opined that maybe there was an infraction of the rule earlier in the week, or at the least the league discouraged that type of deception.
Mike Pereira appearing in his weekly segment on Total Access, officially rubber stamped the play saying the Bills did not appear to use any deception by running the player out there during a substitution, therefore making the play legal. And that's fine; the Hawks didn't have their heads in the game. They deserve the embarrassment that comes with that play.
FYI though, if the player does head to the sidelines in an apparent substitution but does not leave the field, he is flagged for loitering, which is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and would move the spot back 15 yards. ~END~
