People in Minnesota are pretty excited about John Carlson, and by all accounts they should be. Scott Thoma of the West Central Tribune did a fantastic write up on the history of Carlson.
He has received rave reviews at every level. Apparently, he could dunk a basketball....in 7th grade. Both his high school coach and Charlie Weis rave about his work ethic. His high school coach is quoted as saying..“He was so hard-working. He spent countless hours in the weight room. You could hardly keep him out of there.”
Charlie Weis elaborated on his attitude..."This is a kid who improved week by week because he wanted to.” “He was always willing to learn. He would seek help from coaches and do whatever it took to improve. He always put the team first. He didn’t care if he caught a pass or not as long as contributed somehow to the success of the team.”
It seems to me he has the mental makeup to be a very good pro. It sounds as if he will be ready and willing to do the work to make sure it happens. Of course it helps that "his hands are the size of hubcaps" too. I bet he is fan favorite in Seattle before to long. END
