I know, technically it is June 2nd, but this time of year the league doesn't handle transactions on Sundays, at least they don't seem to.
So today is the day that use to be an important marker in the NFL offseason, but ever since the last CBA has become a side note. It used to be that vets with several years remaining on deals that included big signing bonuses would be released. As of today, the salary cap hit is spread over two seasons. However, in the last two years, teams have been able to do this earlier and designate the player a 6/1 cut, so don't expect much action.
Trades are the new June 1st cuts, because now the cap hit for traded players is spread over two years, and currently, there is no June 1st trade designation. I don't expect the Hawks to be major players in the trade market.
Also...the Hawks are back on the field today at approx. 10am. Three cheers for that! END
