The Arizona Cardinals have signed free agent CB Bryant McFadden, most recently with the Steelers. This is definitely an improvement for the Cardinal secondary, and putting him opposite Rodgers-Cromartie (who has pro-bowl potential in the coming years). McFadden is a good, physical cornerback and should complement Cromartie's fast, rangy play well.
This is a very good move for the Cardinal defense who suffered quite a bit in the secondary at times. McFadden has also been accustomed to winning and should serve as a mentor to Cromartie and others on the defense.
The deal is two years, $10M with $5M guaranteed. This is an awfully short-term contract for a player in the prime of his career, but maybe I'm just reading too much into that (Bryant is only 27). Either way, the NFC West just got a tick better, and that's always a welcome change. Let's see how McFadden and Rodgers-Cromartie do trying to cover Housh, Burly, Branch, and, potentially, Crabtree. Bwahaha! END
